Hi @Dr. Jeff, @Dr. Christina @Dr. Jean Hofve,
I know there's a lyme disease course but I can not read too much these days...
I'm still not clear on tick (flea) prevention. We've used Tick Hex by Peter Dobias for years. The bottle says 'weekly." We used it almost daily. Is that too much? I don't know if this much essential oil is good for them..?
We also used his flea products and had pretty good results with it. So we do recommend it.
Additionally, didn't let our girl on grass (or leaves) unless it was newly mowed and walked almost exclusively on our dirt roads and moss. We were super cautious and she got ticks anyway. Not too many, but enough to have to have all the testing and expense a bunch of times. Our vet is very concerned that her patients will die from kidney complications from various tick borne diseases. There's one in particular that she always tested for, but can not recall the name. It was a very expensive test.
What would you all recommend? Cedar oil? Dr. Dobias products? Garlic? And the issue of keeping our new pup off the grass, is this overkill?
