Senior Dog Vomiting Chronically

Hi, I have a senior dog (Koko, Terrier Doxin mix, 10 years old, 9 lbs.) with normally good energy levels even with her vomiting episodes. Last vaccines given were 5 years ago where she got all shots (I don't remember how often she got them before then). Last flea medication was given in January 2026 due to her catching fleas (Bravecto 3 month tx), but before she hadn't had any flea meds in years.

Diet - honest kitchen dehydrated beef grain free, papaya, potatoes, sweet potatoes, pureed pumpkin, fruit smoothie but currently just on papaya & pureed pumpkin since she couldn't tolerate much.

She goes through temporary cycles of vomiting after eating almost anything. Vomiting usually worse at night. The recent cycle lasted almost 2 weeks. Before this recent cycle, the last cycle was stopped by feeding her papaya only & giving her antibiotics plus anti-nausea meds from the vet. The last cycle of vomiting the vet did an x-ray to check for any obstructions or other issues (none reported). Now with the most recent cycle Koko was not even able to keep papaya down, she would still vomit after eating it. Finally giving her canned pumpkin puree helped her stop vomiting and she has slowly been able to eat other foods. Today she had what appeared to be a seizure where she fell over and started flailing her legs and did that several times after getting back up. She has a history of arthritis. I'm trying to determine what the root cause issue could be and a longer term solution instead of needing to go to the vet every time for antibiotics & anti-nausea medications.

Thank you,

Gabe, the root cause is an energy imbalance (you can review the 101 course for more details about this). The best way to permanently resolve the vomiting (now that you know it is not an obstruction) and the arthritic symptoms and prevent more problems would be to work with a homeopathic or chinese medicine veterinarian. Check out the "find a veterinarian" article for the many website to help you find one near you. Or a homeopathic one can work virtually. As a member you can become a client of Dr. Jeff.

Also, go to the reference library and click on digestive system for more on seeing the vomiting as part of the overall health status and how to resolve it.

The very best, and you can start right now, is to do the happiness protocol.

Scheduling your 15 call can help orient you to this wholistic paradigm.

Keep watching the Jan and Feb webinars about deeply connecting with Koko, buy Dr. Jeff's new book - Path to Pet Wellness.

Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Are you feeding papaya, potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and fruit smoothies on top of the dehydrated Honest Kitchen which already contain sweet potatoes, potato and pumpkin? If so, that is a huge amount of carbohydrates. Have you tried just feeding the food by itself for awhile? Too much of anything can cause problems.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with me Gabe.

The whole-istic vet in LA (Dr. Palmquist) will be a great addition to Koko's vet care team.

However he's not a vet homeopath.

To add someone with that specialty you'll probably need to work virtually.
