Dog vomiting

My 24 pound almost 5 year old girl frenchie, mushy, is dealing with some symptoms (I’ve been on medical medium full vegan, celery juice, and strict for almost 4 years and have cured all of my severe chronic health issues that were said to be incurable!)

She has had chronic uti symptoms and chronic ear infections (dripping pee a little when she sleeps, and itchy ears) on and off for years but that’s getting a lot better and doesn’t seem to bother her anymore at the moment (the vet also did a culture of her urine and it had 0 bacteria in it and I can tell it’s much better.

The new advancement of throwing up is where I’m concerned. When the throwing up started about a week ago, she threw up 6 times in one night and then once with blood. We took her to a traditional vet immediately. The vet said all blood tests and x-ray’s are clear and look good and the blood was just likely from her irritating her esophagus with stomach acid from throwing up so much and they weren’t worried abt that aspect. Vet also said that the vomiting/uti/ears are all caused by ‘allergies’ and need to try to change her diet up to see if it helps as well as antibiotics for her ears and uti. I am very much against antibiotics as I believe wholeheartedly they make things worse. I’ve tried antibiotics for her ears and uti in past and doesn’t work, it always came back worse! I’m hoping celery juice + HMDS + and if I can afford to, getting fresh raw meat like the vets on this forum suggest + when I can afford it: more supplements from Medical Medium’s books will help: like Vit c, propolis, goldenseal, b12 (Once she can keep it down without throwing up of course)

She is happy, wants to play, even through the throwing up, she was looking for food to eat between throwing up acting completely normal! Wasn’t scared or anything and still hungry, which I think is a good sign! She has good energy and she’s playful and chill. shes fixed. She’s not aggressive at all with dogs or humans. She goes on a long walk everyday around a track at my local park on the dirt path, most days I also throw the ball for her in my backyard for 20 minutes or until she’s panting and tired happy and content. We haven’t been playing lately because I’m nervous to accidentally cause her stomach upset with physical activity tho. We never spray backyard with anything and we are a fragrance free home. She sun bathes. She’s very loving and smart. She was vaccinated when she was a puppy, with the basic ones. She will eat anything, not a picky eater at all. Her energy just today seems a little less.. like shes laying down and chilling more. which i guess makes sense bc she threw up last night.

She has had history of eating her own poop when I’m not looking, and she used to be quite itchy and having bad hot spots on her chest that would scab bc itching so hard but not at all anymore! Itching is completely gone now. And she doesn’t eat her poop anymore as I watch her very closely every single time she goes potty now. One thing I note is we had put her on the kibble honest kitchen a few months ago instead of the powder form bc of cost, and we didn’t realize there was eggs in it! That was when her ear infection and uti and throwing up started up so I suspect that was the inciting incident? We took her off of it and back onto raw beef powder without eggs for a few months and I can tell she’s slowly recovering from it (no more bacteria in bladder and ears are a lot better as well as itching is gone) apart from the recent throwing up.

After the vet visit where they gave her nausea meds, and she stopped throwing up, I started giving mushy 2-4 ish oz celery juice first thing in morning and then a small HMDS every other day and she stopped throwing up. Her regular diet is the honest kitchen raw beef and I also add steamed potatoes and veg like broccoli and carrots but since she’s thrown up, I’ve had to put her on celery juice, rice, blended up papaya, to make sure she doesn’t throw up again, which she keeps down well. After I started giving her celery everyday and HMDS every other day, she stopped throwing up and seemed healthier for a few days. I tried to integrate some steamed potatoes yesterday bc I figured that is the next step towards her regular diet again, and she ate it completely fine until hours later, in the middle of the night she threw up small puddles foamy liquid about 3 times (at least she seems to have digested the potatoes and it didn’t come up undigested as it used to before i started doing celery and hmds for her. :( I’m hoping her throwing up again is just a sign that she’s detoxing? Or I gave her cooked food too soon?)

Now this morning, I gave her about an oz of celery juice, rice, and some blended papaya and she ate it right up and she is keeping it down as of now. I hope her still being hungry is a good sign.

I’d really love supplement recommendations and other things I can do to help her if anyone has suggestions. I think celery is helping but idk what else to feed her. I think cooked foods are too hard for her right now, as it seems that’s what made her throw up again. Maybe all fresh raw vegetables and beef would be better as I’ve read raw veg are easier to digest and easier on the digestive system.

Id also love suggestions on places to get raw grass fed beef that is ready to eat upon delivery as I’m not sure I can handle raw beef and taking bones out etc. (tho I will do anything for my dog of course I know she needs to eat meat.)

Thank you! @Dr. Jean Hofve @Dr. Jeff @Dr. Christina @Dr. Barbara @DrTamara

You have certainly been trying different approaches to soothe the many different symptoms that Mushy has had over the years. We will all make some suggestions for you now. Since she will drink/eat the celery juice readily and improves with it, certainly continue that. While adding MM supplements may help temporarily, a healthy dog needs few supplements.

To really resolve these different symptoms (currently the vomiting is uppermost) Mushy needs the approach of rebalancing her energetic pattern that continues to create them. Until that is resolved, her imbalance will keep striving for homeostasis by producing yet a different set of problems. The most reliable ways to generate the balance that will allow self healing to happen is homeopathy and TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine). What conventional medicine calls allergies (so they recommend restricting diet, etc) is merely this imbalance.

When reading at the HA site (be sure to watch the Welcome video and take the pet health class) you will see discussions about this shift to energetic rebalancing to resolve all symptoms. Read the article on finding holistic vets (some homeopathic ones can work remotely) and follow the steps. As a member, Dr. Jeff can be your homeopath.

The best place for good meat is a local farm as you can see how they are raised. They may be able to sell you packages just right for Mushy's size. Also, the processors of hunted meat will often butcher to your needs just for a low cost. Big hunks do help the teeth and you do not need to remove the bones (read more in Lesson 2 of the pet health class). Be sure you are either feeding bones or supplemental calcium to balance the high phosphorus/low calcium meat.

You can also feed eggs, chicken, fish, dairy. Fermented foods are great. www.greenjuju.com is one source. The imbalance, not the eggs, was probably the cause of the ears, but for now you could avoid them. When she is healthy she can eat anything.

Cooked versus raw. In nature they do not build fires and cook their meat. Living with people for centuries they did eat some cooked, but mostly raw meat and scraps. Organ meat is important - cooked or raw. There is no one right diet for dogs and there many sites that say you must feed this way or that way. some experts say cooked meat, others say raw. Some say raw vegetables are best, others say no vegetables or cook them. I do feel the best is to puree them so the very short intestinal tract can absorb the nutrients. Fresh is best, then it needs to work for you and for Mushy. Your observations are the best guide, so continue raw for now.

Also for now, do not try to figure out why she is better with one approach or another, just observe as you are doing and doing anything that is working. Once you have excellent veterinary support they may have suggestions, but still you are watching how she does, so trust yourself.

Her BEAM seems good and you are very active with her - kudos to you. Explore different ways to interact with her. Games, laughter yoga, snuffle mats, slow sniff walks - let her be in control whenever possible. We have had great speakers on these topics.
