Hi, I have a senior dog (Koko, Terrier Doxin mix, 10 years old, 9 lbs.) with normally good energy levels even with her vomiting episodes. Last vaccines given were 5 years ago where she got all shots (I don't remember how often she got them before then). Last flea medication was given in January 2026 due to her catching fleas (Bravecto 3 month tx), but before she hadn't had any flea meds in years.
Diet - honest kitchen dehydrated beef grain free, papaya, potatoes, sweet potatoes, pureed pumpkin, fruit smoothie but currently just on papaya & pureed pumpkin since she couldn't tolerate much.
She goes through temporary cycles of vomiting after eating almost anything. Vomiting usually worse at night. The recent cycle lasted almost 2 weeks. Before this recent cycle, the last cycle was stopped by feeding her papaya only & giving her antibiotics plus anti-nausea meds from the vet. The last cycle of vomiting the vet did an x-ray to check for any obstructions or other issues (none reported). Now with the most recent cycle Koko was not even able to keep papaya down, she would still vomit after eating it. Finally giving her canned pumpkin puree helped her stop vomiting and she has slowly been able to eat other foods. Today she had what appeared to be a seizure where she fell over and started flailing her legs and did that several times after getting back up. She has a history of arthritis. I'm trying to determine what the root cause issue could be and a longer term solution instead of needing to go to the vet every time for antibiotics & anti-nausea medications.
Thank you,
