Parvo and other vaccines

I made the mistake of getting the dog vaccinated with Parvo at 2 months old due to the vet preaching about how he was so contagious. He is over 8 months old now and has not had a vaccination since then. I feed my dog mostly fresh pet chicken food and barkley's beef food (these are all frozen foods). And once a week feed him cooked chicken and/or beef with peas. I also feed him freeze dried chicken and salmon when treats when trying to train him. Once in a while the dog gets out of the yard and mingles wtih other dogs. I'm not sure what I'm feeding him is going to keep him from getting the diseases. I was at the vet picking up heart guard the other day and the tech made it sound like he was going to get parvo any day if I didn't vaccinate him. I also have a cat that does out at night and she is not vaccinated, but she was going out for years before she mostly became an inside cat so i'm assuming she has enough resistance to fight something off but I am concerned about the puppy. particularly since he's been not wanting to eat his food, but he will eat the chicken and potatoes and any bones etc so ti's not like hes not eating at all. It's just that he doesn't want that food. His energy is also good

Welcome, Kathy. Most important to deeply understand is that there are no mistakes. While some dogs with an early vaccine are seriously affected, most are not. Even if that one vaccine (and I suspect it was not just parvo, but a 5 in 1) did affect him, there are many ways to completely restore him to his maximal level of health.

Then decrease your stress much more by avoiding a clinic who is scaring you by creating a wonderful holistic health care team (lesson 4 or 5). This will include a virtual or local homeopath, or TCVM vet, maybe one trained in chiropractic, osteopathy or more. Read the article about how to find them and take the steps listed. By 8 months he probably has fine immunity unless he has been housebound. You could do a titer if you are really worried. By this age, you should have gotten the first Rabies vaccine.

Keep up with the fresh food, go to the library and read about vaccines (in addition to the basic health course) and nutrition. We have had lots of speakers on this.
