Hi everyone,

I just posted the other day but my dog Ellie has a quarter sized red spot on her belly with a pustule in the center that’s getting bigger. From what I was looking up it says maybe pyoderma.

Ellie, 7 years old, female

Spayed

Pug

24 pounds

B: 8
E: 9
A: 9
M: 8

Cooked

We do titer tests

She has a red spot on her belly with a pustule in the center. I noticed it the other day and it was dark red and about quarter sized. Her skin has been peely in that spot for a while and now it’s red.

We’ve been using a spray gel called vetericyn on it the last couple days. The redness is getting lighter but the pustule is getting bigger. I know the vet we take her to might recommend antibiotics but she has sensitivity to most of the antibiotics they’ve given her before. Her BEAM is good so I don’t know if there’s anything else I should be doing. I’ve also been giving her calendula 30c.

Thanks for the help.

Great question.

1. Hot compress the pustule 2-3x a dy.

2. Maximize her outside time. Especially focusing on joyful activities, rolling in the dirt, playing, etc.

3. Consider starting to work, preventively, on Ellie's internal energetic balance. It sounds like it's currently still very good based on her BEAM. And also based on the skin lesion (external symptoms, like a skin rash/pyoderma are protecting the internal organs).

Hi Dr Jeff,

I stopped giving her the homeopathic remedies I was using for her allergies, anal glands and urinary I mentioned in my first post as you mentioned stopping them since her beam was lowered. And after I stopped them her leg is better and she is acting like herself again other than being itchy and the spot on her belly.

We didn’t take her for walks this week because her leg seemed like it was bothering her and then I noticed the spot on her belly Thursday. I will be taking her outside and doing things she enjoys like going for rides and playing.

She also threw up a little yesterday when I got home from work. She throws up sometimes like once a month or every other month. It was yellow and a little orange.

Should I give her a bath with zymox shampoo also to help with her itching?

Thank you

After taking her out and playing, how's her itch level on a 0-10 scale?

I’d say a 5 maybe. I have noticed since we didn’t take her on walks much this past week she seemed more itchy, scratching her ear, shaking her head and licking her paws. We took her for a walk today and she didn’t seem as itchy after.

So walking, Nikolina, is much better than bathing. Listen to the talk by Julie Ann Lee (find in the replay webinars) about how when we bathe we decrease the good microbiome of the skin!

As Jeff said, keep your thoughts in celebration when the only symptom remaining is a skin one, even a yukky looking pustule, ear and paws. If it is not bothering her, then let the body heal itself. You could use energy healing to help her body balance so it can heal (see replays by Kathleen Prasad and Leah d'ambrosio and many more).

Be really good with walks and indoor stimulation (snuffle mats, food games, learning tricks and good behaviors) for a few weeks and see if the itchiness resolves.

Schedule your 15 Q/A with one of us.

Be sure you have a homeopathic virtual vet or a local good Chinese medicine vet, chiropractor or osteopath.

Thank you. I definitely will take her on more walks and finding in door activities for her as well.

I am also working on not panicking when she has a symptom pop up. I’ve been reading Dr Jeff’s book and it is helping me a lot. I am also working on talking to a homeopathic doctor for Ellie.

Which homeopathic veterinarian are you considering?
good for you to not panic - maybe that is what she is here to teach you.

Dr Jeff recommended Dr Lisa Melling. I’m in Michigan and she’s the closest, but I’m hoping she’ll do virtual appointments.
