After this experience with my cat, Bello (link to the thread here Cat Teeth
), i have think now, that his Beam has never been good.
I’ve lived with various symptoms myself since I was a small child, so as an adult, it wasn’t anything unusual for me. Unfortunately, I can see now that this has also influenced how I’ve viewed my own cat.
After Bello had six teeth removed, he was never be himself after the surgery. I spoke with the veterinarian, who said it took time for the stitches to dissolve, and that this could be why Bello wasn’t quite himself yet. The veterinarian also said that for an older cat like mine (he’s 14 years old), the surgery might have taken a heavier toll on him and therefore required a longer recovery time.
I had also contacted someone who have telepathic abilities with animals, because I was worried that Bello still wasn’t himself four weeks after the surgery. She said during the telepathic session that it was my worry and the heavy energy that were affecting Bello
But a total of six weeks after the surgery, I found a large abscess on Bello near his mouth.
We did go to the vet, who determined that he had a severe infection in his mouth where the tooth had been removed.
He was prescribed antibiotics, which he was on for 13 days.
What I’m getting at now, are some other symptoms that I feel I’ve interpreted as normal.
For many years, Bello has had some brown discharge around his eyes; it was only there in the morning. I would just wipe it away, and then it wouldn’t come back during the day.
But now, during this period while Bello has been on antibiotics, has the brown discharge from his eyes completely stopped.
I'm wondering if there might have been an underlying infection.
As for Bello’s background: I got him as a kitten when he was 18 weeks old, and just a few weeks later, I discovered he had Giardia. He was given antibiotics back then as a kitten.
He was also neutered quite early, before he was 1 year old.
When Bello was 2 years old, the veterinarian discovered that he had FORL (Feline Odonto-clastic Resorption Lesion), and one of his teeth was surgically removed. For the next 2–3 years, regular dental cleanings were sufficient.
Due to my own challenges, I stopped taking him for checkups and dental cleanings for many years.
When Bello was 9 years old, I took him for a dental cleaning again. Everything was normal. And I went there every year, and the vet said every time that everything was normal. The vet said they had taken X-rays, but I never saw them.
I switched vets this year, and they said right away that there were six bad teeth that needed to be removed. I saw all the X-rays.
Bello has never had as much energy as my other cat, Perle—she’s 15 years old. They’re both the same breed, Birman.
Bello also has trouble with his bowel movements. It can easily be 6 days between bowel movements. And it’s been that way for many years.
So my question now is, how can I better support him so that he has more regular bowel movements?
And also this time when Bello just wasn’t himself at all after the surgery—I could tell something was wrong just by looking at him, and I could sense it in his behavior, too. He pulled away from me.
So now I’ve learned to pay closer attention to the signs in the future and learn to listen and trust my gut feeling.
Bello also had a rough start in life; the breeder told me that when he was born, he weighed so little that he didn’t have the strength to nurse from his mother. There were two kittens in total who weighed so little. One of the kittens died, but Bello took to the bottle and gained the strength to later nurse from his mother.
Bello was fed dry food from when he was a kitten until he was about 7 years old.
Since then, he has been fed raw meat, and I’m adding a few supplements as recommended by Medical Medium on his website under “Pet Health.”
I’m open to any advice so I can take the best possible care of Bello.
