When he was 2 years old, he was diagnosed with FORL, and one large molar was removed.
Since then, there have been no problems during his dental cleanings.

Last month, he was to dental cleaning, and on the X-ray, the vet could see that there were 6 teeth in poor condition that the vet wants to remove.
I am attaching a photo of the X-rays

The vet will remove teeth 202, 209, 302, 308, 408, and 409.

Is it a good idea to have them all removed at once?

I’ve received a list of what needs to be done and the medications the vet will use for the surgery.

The vet will be using Dexdomitor, Comfortan, Buprelap, Ketaminol, Propovet, Xylocaine, and Loxicom. What do you think about these different things?1000006539.jpg

And what pain reliever can I give after the surgery that’s more natural than Loxicom?
Someone told me I could give Arnica instead. I’ve never tried giving it, so I have no experience with it.
I’ve found out that I can buy Arnica here in Denmark, in pellets, which come in different strengths:
CH - 4 - 7 - 9 - 15 - 30 - 200.
And they also have higher dilutions such as
CM.
1M.
10M.

What would you recommend here, and when and how should it be given?

I previously asked in the forum what supplements I could give my cat for his teeth. Dr. Jeff replied that I could give it a little Micro C and spirulina.
I give my cat a very small amount of that (about a pinch), and I’ve also added 2 drops of B12 and 1 drop of zinc (Vimergy, as recommended by Medical Medium for pets)

Can I keep giving him the supplements, or should I stop and wait until after his surgery? If so, when should I start again?

And after his surgery, should I start giving him these supplements? See the attached photo.

My cat eats raw meat—rabbit, chicken, and beef. Can I feed him the same food after his surgery if I cut the meat into smaller pieces?

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for your reply 🙏

And will it be good to add in this supplement for him also ?

@Dr. Jeff

Oh, definitely do all of this at once... get it over with! Otherwise you just repeat the same amount of pain multiple times. (Ask my sister who had her wisdom teeth removed two at a time and was just as miserable twice, while I had them all out at once and was glad to be done!)

That is a reasonable drug protocol for dental surgery like this. I am not a fan of ketamine, but most conventional vets use it.

This will be fairly painful, and using meloxicam for a couple of days is fine. I generally use Arnica 1M post-op for dentals, one dose immediately after, repeat if he seems to be getting more painful. BEAM will tell you if he needs another dose.

Is it a good idea to have them all removed at once?
Yes, as it will avoid any future surgery for these extractions.

What do you think about these different things?
If you have a good relationship with your vet, and want to preserve that relationship, then your est bet is to let him do what he thinks is needed.

The one thing you may ask is about the use of Ketamine. Maybe ask if they can use Propofol for anesthetic induction.

And what pain reliever can I give after the surgery
10M.

What would you recommend here, and when and how should it be given?

I recommend makingup a cup of Arnica 10M. And giving a 10/Q-tip dose the night before surgery. Then succuss 10x and redose as often as needed after surgery.

Lowering of BEAM, hiding, pawing at the mouth, restlessness, are all signs that a redose will help.

Can I keep giving him the supplements
Yes.

Can I feed him the same food after his surgery if I cut the meat into smaller pieces?
Yes! And you may not even need to cut up the meat.

And will it be good to add in this supplement for him also ?
Yes!
