Allergies related to a tooth infection?

My almost 14 yo Chihuahua has been having severe bouts of sneezing, sniffling, rubbing eyes, etc. When I brush his teeth, I notice one of his tricuspids (just medial to canine) may have decay (he had a cleaning about 5 months ago, no teeth were pulled) and when I brush there, it triggers one of these allergy-like attacks. Would you recommend dental x-rays? I dislike the idea of anesthesia again at his age but I wonder if a hidden infection in a tooth could be causing this.

I'm sorry to hear that your pup is uncomfortable.

Yes, it's possible, Is he pawing at his mouth chwing oddly. dropping. food or anything else to indicate tooth pain?

Has he had senior screening testing (bloodwork, urinalysis, exam, etc.) since this began?
