Hi again
Back seeking some advice for Finn, my 11 yo, male, neutered foster cat. His beam is good.
He was in to see the vet on Wednesday. He needed to pull a tooth due to inflammation, and a change in peeing pattern had me thinking he might have urinary discomfort. As you know I let him be outside as much as he wants for his quality of life, and I noticed that he was changing from a more seated peeing lately to more spraying/marking territory/peeing straight up in the air standing up. It had me thinking he might have discomfort. A friend told me that that was just normal territorial behaviour and he probably had just started doing it because he feels even more safe and at home in my neighbourhood now, so I thought it might not be necessary to check it, but since he was already going in for dental care I asked for a urinary check just in case. Lo and behold they did indeed find proteins and blood in his urine. They suspected FLUTD, but found no bacterial infection in the urine test. He’s still a bit overweight (it’s super hard to get him to lose weight even just on raw meal and wet food which he has gotten the last months, not sure why) so they wanted me to start giving him the Hills urinary/weight dry food, but I at least asked for the wet food version so he got that. They said the food he has been getting could be a factor for the inflammation, but wasn’t sure. He is now taking metacam (meloxicam) for a week, both for the inflammation and the pulled tooth.
Coming from a Medical Medium healing journey myself, I am very sceptical to the Hills foods, both wet and dry, consisting of so much virus triggering ingredients like grains, dairy, eggs, sugar etc, but of course I want to do what’s best for Finn. They said I could try this new Hills food for two weeks and then go back to the old raw food to see if that caused symptomatic changes.
I don’t like giving him this food. Also, the wet food version of Hills urinary is too costly for me long term, so the dry food is the long term option if Iwant to give him what they recommend. I know that most veterinary offices are under influence of heavy lobbying from companies like Hills, not necessarily because it’s the best food for them. But I worry if what I am giving him (raw meal based on chicken and beef liver, and grain free wet food based on turkey) is causing him inflammation.
What can be the reasons behind his bladder inflammation and how can I go about this in a holistic way? I really don’t want to give him dry food. And he already gets a bit wobbly in his stomach right after eating this Hills wet food too and earlier today he had more twitches (FHS) than normal. Me changing him to the cleanest raw meal and wet food I could find last year, was primarily to help him with his FHS, stearing away from precisely gluten, dairy, eggs, sugar etc, as Medical Medium says these are very viral triggering and can worsen symptoms of the sort.
Update since last post is he is now only taking a sprinkle of micro C, 2 drops zinc and one drop b12. Nothing else supplemental. I tried listening to my own intuition and he was curious about the micro c more than anything else when I put them on the floor so I decided, as your advice, to keep supplements lower and chose these three. Since that the cough has stopped.
I haven’t really found an affordable homeopathic doctor. On benefits I can’t afford most of them.
Any advice for him moving forward with this?
Much appreciate your help and guidance.
Warmly, Siri
