My Hudson has been recently diagnosed with an inoperable tumor in his spinal cord on May 2nd i’ve been told by many specialist his only hope is cyberknife radiation to possibly shrink a tumor that we don’t know what kind of tumor it is he’s getting very weak. He is on palliative care which consist of steroids. I’m hoping that someone has dealt with this type of tumor before and can give me some advice. Or give me some advice on what to give him to try to slow the tumor down. I am desperate. I am praying for a miracle.

Rhonda, I am so sorry for Hudson's distressing diagnosis. If you want them, I have (((HUGS))) for you both. I am not an expert, but one of our experts will weigh in as soon as they can.

Positive vibes coming your way!

Hi Rhonda-

I'm also super sorry to hear about Hudson's diagnosis.

What are his current symptoms in addition to getting weaker?

Has his BEAM been decreasing? If so, what's his BEAM score now and when did it start to decrease?

What's he been eating, and how's his appetite?

Is there anything he loves to do? Focusing on his happiness right now is the most important thing:

they had him on 20 mg of steroids and had me cut it back last week to 15 waiting for a call back to take it back up to 20. His appetite is very good feed him a lot of chicken and turkey I heard turkey tail mushrooms were very good so I give him them. Hudson was a very active dog and sadly things are quite different sense his diagnosis, but we have playtime, his mobility is getting worse I’m not sure if it’s from the tumor or from the steroids Hudson loves to swim, but sadly not sure if he’s going to be able to hoping he will be able to
Sent his diagnosis on May 2. I do not leave him alone not for a second when he falls I’m there to pick him up.
His left front paw knuckles and a lot of weakness in his hind end . Question, do you know anything about cyberknife radiation?

do you know anything about cyberknife radiation?
Yes. Do you have this scheduled already (and if so, where)?

Perhaps start right away with working on activating Hudson's innate ability to heal (which is the opposite of what the anti-inflammatory steroids are designed to do) by getting some freeze-dried hearts from your local pet store (or Amazon/Chewy) and using them in a snuffle mat at least twice a day.

@ChristineL , it would be great if you could share some of your snuffle mat experiences and your wonderful forum posts in this thread.

Hudson is so blessed to have you caring for him so well. Remember to keep your joy in place.

Finding a really good chinese medicine vet or getting started with a homeopathic vet could help.

Be sure to listen for inspiration to Dr. Bernie Siegel's webinar and even more of him at the you tube for All Paws Pet Talk TV.

@Dr. Jeff, would you think Bill Bengston would send some cotton or water for hudson?

I ordered the chicken hearts and the Mat question what will they help with ? I ordered the turkey tail mushrooms. Also, do they help with inflammation? As far as the Cyperknife radiation
a lot of unknowns they don’t no what kind of tumor it is so how do you radiate something when you don’t know what your radiating So my question do you know of anyone with a spinal tumor that has had the cyber knife and what was the outcome because I know there’s a lot of risk involved .

Hi Dr. Jeff - my pleasure!

Hi Rhonda,

Here are a few links I posted in the past re snuffle mats:

I had a Maltese with heart disease and other symptoms but he would snuffle three hours a day, in one setting - it really helped with his mood, energy level and appetite. Now I have a senior girl who also does a total of three hours a day - she currently has 11 snuffle mats and a few snuffle balls. Doing so, her cellular energy increases then comes all the benefits (i.e., smoother coat for one, brighter eyes, happier, good appetite, sleeps better...etc!). Here's a video of her today during her AM snuffle session.

This is her happiness protocol for sure :) We give her all kinds of freeze dried goodies, mostly hearts. Since she does it for a long time, we make sure we don't overfeed her and we always break the treats into crumbles.

Keeping our pups happy is key - happiness leads to health. Energy also follows our intention - so we must try to be positive/hopeful/happy ourselves (I know it can be hard sometimes...but we can do this because we're so blessed to have them with us!). Sending you and Hudson lots of love.

Wow, great pic Christine! :snowman: 😍 Hope's a lucky girl!

If you include the snuffle balls I think that you're up to 17 of the wonderful tools for snuffling!
