Hello,

It’s been a little while since I’ve been in membership. I tell EVERYONE I know about HA. Hopefully they have signed up!

My indoor/outdoor cat Junior has a swollen bottom lip on one side. I took a video to show you and attached it. I can’t tell if he got bitten by a bug, bee, or anything else. There’s no bleeding or opening. Unless it’s a swollen hive. Or maybe it’s from stomatitis? I am looking for a new vet to get all his dental work taken care of. Last year this is what the vet said about his oral care.

  • Advanced dental disease identified, with a recommendation for professional dental cleaning under anesthesia.
  • Professional dental cleaning, scaling, and polish under general anesthesia recommended pending labs
  • Advanced dental disease - r/o periodontitis, tooth resorption, stomatitis

Evidence of advanced dental disease: generalized gingivitis, heavy dental calculus, redness, and swelling.

Could the swelling be from this? I put some Souvereign Silver topically., and gave him one round of 30 c arnica for the swelling and hopefully it will help if it is painful. Was this a good idea?

Is there anything else you recommend I can do until I get him into a new vet for his dental work?

Thank you!! @Dr. Christina @Dr. Jeff @Dr. Jean Hofve @AnnaH

Hey Anna!

Welcome back.:snowman:
Could the swelling be from this?
Yes, it could be.

How's Junior's BEAM? 😻

Yes,

Hello Dr. Jeff,

Junior’s BEAM is normal! He’s doing well minus the swollen bottom lip. I feel awful to Say I should have taken him to the vet for his oral care last year. I’m finding a new vet now. I gave him Arnica last night and one time this morning. It has gone down significantly. I also applied some sovereign Silver directly with a cotton pad.

I wonder if stomatitis has caused this? I need to learn more about this disease. I know nothing about it. I hope it’s something treatable or even something you can cure.

A friend of mine asked me if it could potentially be herpes? If this is a herpes outbreak, because he’s an indoor outdoor cat. Then I was thinking of starting to add L Lysine to his food every day. And to his sister, jinxie’s as well. What are your thoughts? Thank you for everything.
@Dr. Jeff
