Q about Sardines for Cats

When buying sardines for my cats, it was suggested to buy regular wild sardines in the grocery store as opposed to sardine canned cat food. My question is about the sodium content..looking at the wild sardines packed in water the sodium content looks very high. Is this ok for my cats? Or are there any options for lower sodium?

For intermittent feeding and as long as there's no heart or kidney dis-ease then yes.

@Dr. Jean, what's your feeling about feeding cats sardines?

And when the sardines are available fresh, that's the most vital and healing option.

@ChristineO I have found sardines in water with no added salt. It took me looking at five different stores, but they do exist.
