Does anyone have a remedy for Teddy’s eye that seems to be inflamed, like a pink eye. I think it’s viral he has had it now for about 4 days, it is not worse and his beam is good. It looks agitated in the white parts of his eye, light it’s bloodshot look. He can open it but the white part of his eye is red when I try to lift his top of eyelid up. I think that after the cold he caught while hospitalized then about 2 wks after he has developed a slightly reddened eye. Very little to none drainage, and if it does run it is like a tiny speck maybe light green to clear.

Today I started warm compresses, but if it’s viral how long does it last? Thank you.

How long a viral infection lasts, JoAnn, is based on each animal's ability to return to balance.

What was his last homeopathic medicine? Dr. Herman is treating him, right? Be sure to let her know this symptom.

It is fine to use some herbal eye drops to soothe, or simply some warm saline solution. For temporary help, especially if it is itchy.

How about Soverign Silver in the eyes for pink eye? I personally use it for myself when I get a strep flare(pink eye).

Dr. Christina, Teddy is only on Belladonna, no other homeopathic remedy. I am using CBD and DMG however today was terrible when we went to see neurologist Dr Deweyfrom Cornell. When discussing phenobarbital Dr Dewey did not suggest increasing the dosage of phenobarbital only adding a second to it since he was on such a low dose that I did notwean himto but it was Dr Palermo the internal medicine Dr. I have a call into Dr Deweyto straighten out thatmisconception. I only want to move forward safely but Dr Dewey feels DMG May add to Teddy’s low glucose. I have copied his notes and will add them here. Basically he does not know why Teddy has hypoglycemia, and the left eye was due to an injury that Timmy might have caused. Timmy gets very rough with Teddy now and is a concern during the night. Dr Dewey also felt that his diet maybe iscausing low blood sugar, almost raw meat withfeline instincts. I also add to 3 or his 6 meals a tablespoon of Cornacopia food 3tablespoons total in the day so in 3 of the 5 or 6 feedings. This is the write up he did:

Opinion: No further seizures, but still has constant low BG, it was 35 today. Told owner that Internal medicine will need to deal with the low blood glucose issue. Explained to owner I have certain recommendations and cetain reservations ( even without BG issue, he may still have a seizure focus). Talked about adding Di Tan Tang and recommend adding Keppra on to phenobabrital but owner declined. Recommend increase CBD to at least 1mg/kg twice daily.
PLAN:
schedule appointment with internal medicine to further work up low BG.
Continue:
Phenobarbital - 4mg BID (owner weaning on her own; informed her that this may lead to recurrent seizures)
Stop:
DMG - amino protein - 50mg BID (not my recommendation; informed owner there is no published evidence of efficacy for this in cats however there is published evidence that this supplement can effect cats glucose)
Increase: CBD 5mg BID
ELECTRO-ACUPUNCTURE:
NA

So he wants DMG stopped, and Teddy goes back to internal medicine but I don’t know what they can do, all tests were negative. I feel like I have gone backwards instead of forward.
I have a consult on Friday with Dr Judy todiscuss but wondered what is best CBD, Ellepet, RX HEMP or KINGKALMCBD, the any thoughts on DMG. I just need to let Teddy’s eye heal. I can’t believe he got injured by his brother! Thank you.

What is Dr. Herman's response?
How is his BEAM? I have seen some animals with very low glucose for years yet they are fine.
good for you to say no while you decide your next steps and consult with Dr. Herman.

Hi JoAnn-

The neurologist is advising against anything that is not documented by a double-blind placebo controlled study.

That is just how most board certified specialists are taught to practice, and that is absolutely fine (for them).

DMG and raw diet are not part of the conventional vet armamentarium.

However the proof is in the pudding (or the eating of the pudding).

Regarding your next step, I would concur that stopping the DMG is a good idea.

This is the easiest way to assess whether it is affecting Teddy's blood sugars.

Please also let us know what Dr. Judy says on Friday .

Ok Dr Jeff, I just saw this so please forgive me for duplicating this in the epilepsy thread. I am a bit frazzled by all of this.

Dr Christina, that is what is mystifying them, his BEAM is at95% he is playing with his toys again, and last night the increase in CBD made him more sleepy. I will go very slow, I can’t believe what is happening to Teddy. I will talk with Dr Judy on Friday and in the meantime have you also ever heard of KINGKALMCBD oil 150mg/30ml. I think CBD is good but what is the best product for Teddy. I also asked Dr Jeff if he knew about this product. Dr. Judy has not heard of this. She uses RX hemp or Ellepet. I asked if the neurologist ordered 5mg of CBD does that mean with any product of meat choice of CBD or just particular to RX hemp, because that is the product he recommended. When I called the company they said 1 gtts is equal to .5 mg and so it is impossible to give .3 of a 15mg/ml bottle of RX Hemp. That is what the neurologist ordered. Can’t believe all the discrepancies. Thank you, I am very frazzled right now because I am worried Teddy has a tumor they can’t see.
