Hi Carol!

Welcome to HA! and I am super sorry to hear about Rigley.

For about how long has he had any heart dis-ease (even just a murmur)?

There definitely are some strategies that can help raise his BEAM score to 8 or above.

And they're simple and fun!:snowman:?☘️???

All of the strategies have one thing in common.

They raise his cellular and cardiac energy. And secondarily, heart function and quality of life (especially appetite) will improve.

A great place to start is with the energy from his food.

You might want to introduce some totally non-processed (fresh) food. Have you tried raw or lightly scrambled (with a sprinkle of low salt parmesan) egg? How about a bit of cooked white meat chicken? Sardines...etc.?

There are many more suggestions throughout the forum, in the 101 course, in the diet and heart resources in your member area.

Another great thing to start tomorrow are Therapeutic Sniff Walks and the snuffle mat (try using tiny bits of freeze dried heart in the mat).

Regarding supplements, fish oils, Co-Q10, taurine/carnitine etc. can be helpful. A combination product that also includes Hawthorn (see @Dr. Sara's great forum post about Hawthorn) is Formula CV from Rx Vitamins.

Other supplements, strategies and ways to help heart dis-eases in dogs and cats are in the member resource area. Some are also in these blogs:

It's also super important (and therapeutically helpful) to love up and have fun with Rigley!
