I am looking for support for my 18 year old cat who seems to be grieving. Do cats grieve by hiding? Appetite seems okay, he just seems depressed and wants to hide. he also did just get into a fight but does not seem to have any wounds. I am giving him flower essences and energy work and lots of love.

Any help is very welcome.

Yes! BEAM (including behavior) often changes and drops after the loss of a friend.

Definitely keep doing what you're doing, sprinkle in some tincture of time.

And consider a dose or two of the homeopathic medicine Ignatia 30c (which is like Arnica but for grief).

Absolutely, cats grieve. This flower essence formulas was made specifically for this kind of situation: jacksongalaxy.com/products/loss-solution?_pos=3&_psq=gri&_ss=e&_v=1.0 (You can take it too, as I know this has been very hard on you as well, or just spritz it all around the house to raise the vibration!) I don't know how spry Ruta is but if you can coax her to play a little, that is a great way to re-build self-confidence and re-engagement with life. Play Therapy | Little Big Cat - Dr. Jean Hofve

Thank you @Dr. Jean Hofve for the grief remedy suggestion from your buddy Jackson Galaxy. I decided to try some for Maya 🥰 and just placed an order. I can relate to this post, as I was just re-playing the recording that I received from my 1st session with animal communicator and mutual HA friend and contributor Hana Makinen, earlier this week. I got so much out of my 1st session with her, and one of the things she shared was that my cat Maya is still grieving the loss from almost 2 years ago of my husband. I knew she was grieving in the beginning but never realized still this far out. I give her lots of love always but can see she needs extra support apart from what I can give. I will be reaching out to my homeopathic vet to set an appt to discuss some things that came up during the session with Hana. Ignatia (which is in my home homeopathic collection) is the remedy name that came up, but I want to check with Dr Herman before I dose on my own as I have 30C, 200C, and 1M on hand.

Yes, grief can be deep and long-lasting. Ignatia is a great remedy for that but you're right to check with Dr. Herman. You might also consider EFT/Tapping: EFT Tapping for Animals | Little Big Cat - Dr. Jean Hofve
@Dr. Jean Hofve thank you! I have done EFT on Bella, but not Maya. Bella has had the more "visible" symptoms so this all has been educational speaking with Hana about both cats. Will do tapping with Maya for now, that is something immediate I can do!
