Hi, my three and a half year old intact female Saluki developed a lick granuloma between the toes of her left back paw while I was out of town. She had been home stressed with a pet sitter (she is shy and sitter said she was terrified of him and only left crate to be walked to a small potty area I had created since our yard because a glacier from an ice storm). I took her to the vet and they applied a solution of Synotic 8ml + 1ccBanamine to apply one to two drops twice a day. Is there a recommended more holistic solution for this? She survived stage three soft tissue sarcoma last year (treated holistically and with monthly UVBI ozone, chiro/acupuncture/massage and supplements after a surgery to remove tumor and 4.5 ribs in Jan 2025) and am very careful with not overloading her immune system. Photo attached. Her BEAM was great when I left though she had already been pent up for almost three weeks of no yard or running due to ice storm that rendered the property a glacier. She had inevitably been walked on roads which were salted though I used Mushers Secret and then wiped feet after walks. She seemed fine when I left but was here at home terrified for five days while I hd to travel suddenly for family situation. Thank you much,
Cassandra

Multiple herbs, cassandra - Calendula, manuka honey, tons of love, ozonated oil, cone to stop licking, tons of play indoors - maybe trick training - for distraction, comfrey, aloe,

Tilford (the best herbal book - Herbs for Pets) says for itching you want astringent - 1 part each of juniper or uva ursi leaf decoction; calendula flower steeped into a strong tea; peppermint tea

Wynn in Natural Veterinary Medicine says lick granulomas can be from a spinal subluxation causing nerve irritation (probably more in long term lick granulomas but would not hurt).

Maybe a dose of Aconite for ailments from terror (if it feels right for her).

Good news is her vital force created a symptom that was far away in the back. one of Hering's guidelines says healing happens from the head downward, so if a new symptom is down, the vital force is in good shape.

Thank you so much...she is adjusted regularly and she is doing all her moves indoors so I less suspect the spin but it is not out of realm of possibility since she was out on ice and terrified while I was gone and whole body contracts from stress...

so don't use the conventional meds she gave me? Calendula tincture I have...use as a soak? What about propolis spray (surprisingly her breeder who is not holistic person, recommended calendar and propolis --after maybe two days of the conventional meds if needed-- I have he spray maybe less gunky than the manuka?)

Also...do I soak her paw in epsom salts to keep clean? Or is it more important to keep dry?

I know I have probably dealt with these things before but not in a long while...

Grateful her vital force is in good shape. She is otherwise acting her old self...was VERY happy to see me upon my return.

No conventional needed as they are antis - against the body and this is not a life threatening crisis where conventional may be needed.

No one right answer. Many choices. Tune in to your intuition. Listen to what she likes. Maybe since breeder said calendula and propolis - see that as a sign.
I would not soak paw.

okay thank you. I got a really high grade manuka...the propolis I have is throat spry for people but I use it topically to clear my own impetigo when I get it (only thing that works).
(Calendula is a soak though isn't it?)

Calendula comes in many forms as do all herbs. I suspect you have some. maybe just start with the propolis rather than going out to get calendula right away. Follow your intuition. Breathe. Heal with intention.
