My male cat started vomiting last night. Only a brownish liquid came up. He threw up about 5 times last night. This morning he has thrown up 4-5 times. And the last time he just threw up was a little while ago which I have taken a picture of. I think it looks more red now, the last time he threw up

I tried giving him some coconut oil, but he didn't want it. He seems tired, but he goes out in my garden and sits. And he has also wanted to be near me as usual.

He had his usual food yesterday, turkey with some chicken liver and some chicken neck in pieces.

He has vomited again and this time a piece of hairball came up with it.

I have not experienced before that he has been so bad when he had to throw up hairballs.

And I think he has thrown up 10-12 times in total.

He is still very tired and has slept a little with me just before. He has even gone out and drank very little water.
He felt tired and tired in his whole body.

I tried earlier and wanted to give him these drops, but he didn't want them. Nothing he wanted.

He has just vomited again, and it was only the reddish liquid that came up.

I wonder if it could be the meat he ate yesterday that made him sick now.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty's vomiting Bettina!:confused:

How young/old is he?

What's his BEAM?

Has he had any medical challenges? If so, you may want to bring him to your vet. For example, if he is a cat with kidney dis-ease then he should receive an exam and SQ fluids.

@Dr. Jeff
He is 13 years old, no medical challenges .

He is tired. However, he still seeks my company as usual. His body is tired. He doesn't want to eat anything. He hasn't eaten all day today. He has drunk very little water. He has peed once today.

I have tried giving him his favorite treats, but he didn't want that either.
But I have gotten him to want to lick a little coconut oil.

The last time he threw up was about two hours ago. And then the vomit was yellow.

Two days ago, I gave him a small fingertip of papaya. Could it be papaya he couldn't tolerate?
I gave it, because it was recommended to me by someone who dealt with nutritional advice for dogs and cats.

Update -
He has not vomited last night or this morning.
He has been drinking a little bit of water but he still won't eat anything. I cooked some chicken for him today.

Yay! Is his BEAM better?

Luckily, he wanted a treat, so he got eat some freeze-dried chicken now 🙏

It makes me wonder, should I cook his food for a few days now? Or something else I should try?

If his BEAM is not improving, you may want to have a vet visit tomorrow.

Yes, cooked food, bland diet (blenderized foods like baby food) is gentler on his GI and is a good idea.

@Dr. Jeff @Dr. Christina

My cat has not had a bowel movement since Thursday last week.
Today I put some pumpkin in his food.

His Beam is normal again, he is his usual self. He eats his food and drinks some water.

What is important to pay attention to now and what else can I do?

The most important things to monitor are BEAM, BM (stools), appetite, and straining to poop but nothing comes out.

Does he go outside, or might he be pooping somewhere in the house, like a basement?

@Dr. Jeff

No, he has not been able to popping anywhere else. And I only let him out in my garden when I'm home. But he has not been out this week because of the rain.

And the times he has gone on the litter box, I have gone with him to the toilet and looked, and he only pees
