Good afternoon~ I was cautioned recently by one of my mobile vets to not feed my kitties bone broth that included tomato juice to leech out the calcium from the chicken bones I made by using Anitra Frazier's bone broth recipe from New Natural Cat which I have made many times over the years...it is so good for them and they love it (Bella and Maya). She felt tomatoes are toxic to kitties and to use ACV instead for the acidity. Before I do anything let me know your opinion. It didn't scare me off so for now I am still using up the broth I made a few months ago. It certainly takes a lot of effort to make it so I am not about to throw it out. Thanks!

For years I have avoided any members of the Solanaceae family, for both myself and the animals. In the past, way before homeopathy knocked on my door, I knew of a psychiatrist who took all his patients off any Solanaceae and achieved some great resolutions. And I have stayed cautious of them since. I see nothing about cats that would make me want to feed tomatoes to them, but, well, I just don't know and would prefer a more species-appropriate approach. YMMV, of course. But there may be a good reason they are called "deadly" nightshades....

I've always used vinegar. I agree to avoid nightshades. But there is almost no calcium in bone broth no matter how you make it. Acid helps pull a tiny bit out, but the calcium-phosphorus matrix is extremely stable. The main benefit of bone broth is collagen, and long slow cooking is what pulls that out.
