1. Rosie, 3 years old, Female
2. Not fixed
3. Bichon frise
4. Weight- not sure but the vet said she is a healthy weight
5. BEAM- Behaviour is good, energy seems ok... she is not as energetic as she was as a puppy. She just lays on the floor in the morning and during the day when I come home at lunch-- it doesnt seem like she has much energy. but she is always very excited for our walks at the end of the day and doesnt seem to have energy problems when we are walking.
6. Rosie is an incredibly picky eater. I have tried cooking her ground beef with vegetables and she refuses to eat it. I feed Rosie a raw meat diet (sometimes just plain ground beef or stew meat in the morning, and then totally raw pet food (Home - Totally Raw Pet Food) in the evening. I don't add fruit or vegetables to it because she wont eat it, so I know her diet is lacking. My parents also feed her table scraps on occasion. She also would eat marrow bones for a time period, but she now refuses to eat them. She also sometimes eats my cats "Honest Kitchen" food-- which has chicken in it and I wonder if that is triggering the inflammation in her ear.

7. I have not vaccinated Rosie with anything. The only vaccines she had were the ones the breeder gave her when she was a puppy. I cant recall which ones those were

8. Rosie's ear has been inflamed, itchy and red since October. I took her to the conventional vet because I couldnt get in right away with my holistic vet and they prescribed her an antibiotic ear drop. I used that and the infection went away and then it just came back. I made an appointment with a holistic vet and took her there in November. She recommended some dietary changes, and also prescribed her a steriod ear drop so I tried some dietary changes but the problem was not resolving. I did not use the ear drop because I was hoping the dietary changes would be enough to resolve it. I have not had the financial means to take her back to the vet, so tonight I decided to give her the ear drop that the holistic vet prescribed. When I opened it, I noticed it smelled like perfume. I thought that was odd, but I didn't think to look at the ingredients because it was given to me by a holistic vet, so I trusted it. When I put the drops in her ear, she immediately winced and cried in pain, so I quickly tried to rinse it out. I immediately looked at the bottle and to my utter dismay and shock, found that "fragrance" was listed on the list of ingredients. I cannot believe that a holistic vet would prescribe a product that is loaded with toxic fragrance chemicals. I have chronic illness and severe chemical sensitivities and my home is completely fragrance free. Not only has my dog been exposed, but I am now experiencing the onset of a migraine due to the exposure. The perfume smell does not dissipate or wash off no matter how many times I wash my hands-- it is in my dogs ear as well as on my hands. The vet also never told me to not use it if my dogs ear was ruptured-- the label clearly stated to not use it in those instances. My dog has wounds in her ear from scratching it, the chemical exposure obviously caused her pain and distress. I am absolutely beside myself.

She has other symptoms as well-- her urine is almost always also dark yellow, she has bad breath, and she often pants at night.

I have attached a picture of the product, as well as Rosie's ear. @Dr. Jeff

Ouch! That ear is way too red and swollen.
an incredibly picky eater.

Has Rosie's appetite been getting worse? Is her pickiness increasing in other ways?

Was she ever a good eater?

Is there anything she loves to eat or drink?
The only vaccines she had were the ones the breeder gave her when she was a puppy
Do you know how many, or how young she was when she was vaccinated?

Is she a good water drinker? Or does she drink at all?

doesnt seem to have energy problems when we are walking.
Can you get her outside 4x a day for just 3-5 minutes (or more if you have the time)? That should help her ears within days.
