Urinary blockage

Age 10years old.

His beam was really good up until we went away for holiday and had family look after him, then he developed a urinary blockage and had crystals.


Hello my Cat rahji has had to go to emergency vet due to urinary blockage, he has had it in the past but this time they were not able to express any urine, so they had to put him under anaesthetic and put a catheter in and to drain his urine.

It is post surgery now and weves had to take him back to the vet a few times due to struggling to pass urine still. He was able to pass some urine at the vet last night and there are no signs of crystals now they have sent us home with Buprenorphine, gabapentin, meloxicam, lorazepam.

This morning rahji is very quiet laying on his side and slowly oushing out little squirts of urine which has a little bit of blood in it, local veg said this can be normal.

I just wanted to get a second opinion about all the meds he is on, they really seem to knock him out?

Is the Buprenorphine necessary? Hes been on it for 3 days now. He is in alot of discomfort though so maybe its necessary?

Just looking for some guidance around the meds he is taking?

Also to note a psychic friend said they feel he has a viral load or something like an infection. But his blood results and urine results have not shows that according to the vet..

I’m sorry to hear about Rahji’s urinary challenges and discomfort.

From our perspective, the meds may be OK (and safe) in the short run. However they can not address the underlying energetic imbalance.

Hi jeff, Thanks for your reply so far he has been on those meds for about 3 days with no significant changes. He seems to be pretty wobbly and quite skittish and out it on the meds is that a normal side effect?

We tried just giving him the gabapentin this morning. Instead of the Buprenorphine He perked up for a bit but as soon as he had food he seemed irritable and was trying to pee everywhere and then laid on the bed and didnt move for ages. Hes just got up again after an hour to eat some more. seemed to pee only after giving him a little bit if colloidal silver but not sure if that was a coincidence, but he has urinated a bit still

Hi Matthew, this is a very common condition and often brought on by stress.

Now that he's back home and feels safer it should start resolving. Buprenorphine is the most effective painkiller but it can be sedating since it is an opioid. Pain relief is the most important thing here. The other is fluids, get lots of moisture running through the bladder to flush it out. No dry food, no dry treats.
