1. Your pet's name-- Toby
2. Approximate age-- 4 This year in August
3. Sex-- Male
4. Neutering status--Yes he has been neutered.
5. Breed--Tuxedo/ short hair
6. Approximate weight-- unkown
7. What's their BEAM:
Behavior-- Gentle, loves cuddles. A little scared of people but very scare of loud noises and cars.
Energy--Playful likes to run around the house sometimes more so in the morning and evening than during the day. Day time he likes to sleep/ cuddle
Appetite-- very food motivated, loves his treats and does tricks for them
Mood-- Happy, loving, can play on his own or with his brother Winston
8. Diet-- Currently on strict diet from Vet--- Royal Canin Urinary SO Calm (1/2 cup dry food in AM and 1 can of wet food for dinner)
9. Vaccination history / exposure to toxins, other medication-- Unsure, but has had all the vaccines the vet recommended.
-- Currently taking gabapentin, meticam, clavaseptin and prazasin.
10. Primary problem, when it began and if there was anything else happening around that time:
May 4th 2024 Could not void at all, brought him to the vet hospital and we did an in and out catheter. Next day was completely blocked again. They did a 48 hour indwelling catheter with IV fluids and flushed him out so to speak. He's been voiding at home so far and eating and just seems tired for now. His brother Winston and him have been fighting extra due to the higher amounts of stray cats in the area. Just put in a feliway calming pheromone diffuser. (It didn't work in the past but this one is the friendly cat one I guess the newer addition)
11. Is the condition better or worse from exercise, heat, cold, time of day, certain foods, emotional upset, being touched, excitement, etc?--- Unsure as this is very new.
12. Has any diagnostic work been done? Diagnosis if available (you can attach your diagnostic tests to the post if you have them.) ---FLUTD (Kidney blood work was all normal and only struvite crystals were found clogging his urethra.
13. Current and previous treatment. ---None
14. Other health concerns.--None usually a pretty healthy happy kitty.
Any way we can avoid this from happening again? Is the Royal Canin really the best food for this? We usually give both our kitties grain free foods the wet stuff anyways. Was slowly changing his food before this happened too. From Royal canin dental to Honest Kitchen cat food. And any supplements that would be helpful? We currenlty give them B12 from vimergy and ocean kelp. Currently purchased online urinary support gold for cats and some salmon oil non gmo. And we usually always give a bit of water with the wet food too.
Thanks so much!! <3
