Hi everyone-

This week's Organon post highlights the 1 point that we barely had time to discuss during today's radio interview.

That is, the importance of symptoms in knowing that your pets are sick.

Dr. Hahnemann tells us in no uncertain terms what he discerned through observation and what later would be scientifically verified.

That is, the true significance of symptoms.

Now, as it is undeniable that the curative principle in medicines is not in itself perceptible, and as in pure experiments with medicines conducted by the most accurate observers, nothing can be observed that can constitute them medicines or remedies except that power of causing distinct alterations in the state of health of the human body, and particularly in that of the healthy individual, and of exciting in him various definite morbid symptoms; so it follows that when medicines act as remedies, they can only bring their curative property into play by means of this their power of altering man's state of health by the production of peculiar symptoms; and that, therefore, we have only to rely on the morbid phenomena which the medicines produce in the healthy body as the sole possible revelation of their in-dwelling curative power, in order to learn what disease-producing power, and at the same time what disease-curing power, each individual medicine possesses.

He says that your pets' (or any living beings') symptoms are the very best way to know what is happening internally.

They do not alter physiology directly, they alter the underlying cause for the symptoms.

It is their effect on symptoms that let you know what the homeopathic medicines are doing.

He also starts his discussion of the 4th of the 4 Ps - Peculiar.

These peculiar symptoms are fantastic clues to what's going on in your pets bodies.

For example, I recently spoke to a pet parent whose pup seemed great but had also started waking at 2am every night and running in circles for no apparent reason.

This peculiar symptom (which is also a great modality) helped guide us to a homeopathic medicine that cured this symptom.

We then knew that the underlying cause was also being addressed.

If anyone else has a pet with a peculiar symptom, please post it below.

Thanks, Dr. Jeff.
My cat, Gritzie, sometimes pulls out her hair when I am preparing her food, would this be considered peculiar?
Thanks,
Alice

Thanks for your kitty symptom question Alice.:catfood:

The answer depends on the context.

For example, is she is an especially hungry kitty?

If so, the hair pulling could be an expression of anxiety in waiting to be fed.

Is she an anxious/skittish kitty?

If she's not especially anxious or ravenous then yes, this could be a great peculiar modality.

Doe she focus on one spot in particular?

What else is going on with her (now and in the past)??
