Quick question - since we’re learning about homeopathy for animals, why aren’t we using Drs Pitcairn and Jensen’s New World Veterinary Repertory? Wouldn’t using this Repertory easier for helping our animals?

Here's a reply from Dr. Christina from an email:

We did give the NWVR and the Boger - Boenninghausen’s Characteristics & Repertory and the Synthesis as repertory options.

Several reasons for Kent, Christine.

1. Cost. A number of people who take even the intermediate class will not pursue homeopathy on their own. They may refer to the repertory occasionally. In the future they may pursue it. Kent can be very inexpensive and is even available used.

2. There is a study guide for learning Kent.

3. Kent is the basic organization for the NWVR, so you need to understand how Kent's is organized to understand.

4. Even the year long training course for veterinarians (created by Dr. Pitcairn) recommends Kent and Boenninghausen, not the NWVR. Many of the human courses also teach Kent first, then in the 2nd or third year move to the more modern repertories.

5. The NWVR is great, of course. It does have a few additional "animal" rubrics. Mostly it is a combination of the two different approaches of repertorization - Kent and Boenninghausen. It would be more difficult to teach to beginners because of this.

6. Kent is more than sufficient for beginning.

Make sense?
