1. Lola, 7, female
2. Not desexed
3. Mini Dachshund
4. 6.5kg

5. She's well behaved, has low energy most of the day, sleeps a lot, has a good appetite, looks sad and depressed most of the time, enjoys going for daily walks, she is a lot slower than my other 2 dachshunds. Get's more energy at night when she plays with my other dogs.

6. I have always fed her raw from Big dog raw Australia or home cooked food in a slow cooker with turkey wings, veggies that don't feed yeast etc and kelp. Chicken and a lot of other proteins make her scratch I used to feed them all chicken wings a few times a week, nothing seems to help her anymore, last vet visit for an ear infection the vet said she will have to be on steroids for the rest of her life but I never gave them to her because it's just masking the issues.

7. She was vaccinated as a puppy before I got her but I have never given her anymore, I've had to give her anti-inflammatory drugs called Meloxicam 2 times in her life because she went in the back legs, she's fine now that was years ago. She was missing hair off the back of her ears as a puppy and has 2 skin tags on her right ear.

8. She is itchy all the time her coat looks very healthy though, has a skin odor, has had 3 ear infections in her life and has one at the moment, shakes her head a lot. She's had anal gland issues ever since she had antibiotics a few years ago for an abscess behind her eye, she got worse after that. She licks herself a lot, started chewing her paws lately, has breathing issues that seem to be getting worse, sounds like snoring like she's not getting enough oxygen. The home cooked meals aren't helping her anymore & I don't know what to do.

9. Certain foods make it a lot worse, she can't eat sardines she scratched her ribs like crazy. Chicken & Kangaroo make her scratch too. I have't tried beef for a long time. It's hard to get rabbit to try in Australia.

10. Vets just say she has allergies & tell me to put her on drugs. There's no holistic vets out here, they all pretty much laughed when I said different foods make her scratch and give her ear infections they said they've never heard that before.

11. The vets just give me ear wash and drops but I'm out at the moment so I'll have to make a trip to town unless there's something I can help her with from home? She did get put under to check her teeth out once when she had a very swollen head from the abscess, which they lanced the side of her head & put her on antibiotics and said her teeth where perfect it took 3 or 4 trips for them to discover it was an abscess.

12. Just the itching, skin odor, ear infections, paw chewing, licking, sluggishness, depression most of the time, anal gland issues, breathing noises. I do worry she could could become paralyses in her back legs again, but main concern is fixing her allergies. When she was on the meloxcam she did come alive and was quite sprightly for some time after.

I'm at a loss on where to start in trying to help her, what do you think I should start feeding her, how do I help her ear infections? I can't order any of the suggested supplements from pet health and nutrition because they don't post to Australia :(, do you know any good alternatives I could order here?

Thank you
Jen ♥

Welcome to Holistic Actions, Jennifer. We hope you will delve into the wealth of material here so you can have a super healthy dog with clean ears. You are certainly thinking holistically to not want to merely stop a symptom with drugs for life. And kudos for posting in the forum right away.

1. Take the 101 course, especially paying close attention to Lesson One which expands your current thinking about not to focusing merely on the symptoms, rather working to rebalance the underlying imbalance that has been triggered to produce the symptoms.

2. Watch the Membership Tour video to see how to access the wealth of info on the site.

3. Go to Resources - Library - Ears and follow the links to webinars on that topic. And Allergies button, too. Here you will be reminded to focus on happiness, discover how to improve her energy. Since she seems more active in the evening make sure to carve out time when her energy is high. And you will learn some holistic ways to soothe the ears until she has regained her health.

4. There are many great holistic veterinarians in Australia, so carefully read this article and follow the steps. This is you most important step. Some Veterinary homeopaths can help virtually, if no one from any of the other sites are local to you. The veterinarian giving this webinar does do virtual consulting and teaches classes on how you can energetically help your dogs.

5. Download and begin to use the Healthy Dog Journal for each of your pups.

6. Buy Dr. Jeff's book - Path to Pet Wellness - for wonderful ways to be present and happy with each of your dogs, even while slowly working your way back to health

7. Schedule your 15 minute call with Dr. Jeff or Dr. Christina to help you with next steps.

Welcome to HA! Jennifer!

Thanks for making your first post about Lola.
Get's more energy at night when she plays with my other dogs.
There's your key to fixing her symptoms!

last vet visit for an ear infection the vet said she will have to be on steroids for the rest of her life
Not unless you wanted her to be (which I believe you do not).
I've had to give her anti-inflammatory drugs called Meloxicam 2 times in her life because she went in the back legs,
This was for 2 episodes of lameness? Interesting how her BEAM also improved when she was on this drug.
itchy all the time
Yes, and that is directly related to the cellular energetic imbalance that causes the immune imbalance and ear issues.
I'm at a loss on where to start
You're in the right place! You will start (and end) by upgrading her mitochondrial function to help balance her immune system.

As this occurs, her BEAM and joy for life will also improve. Followed by her physical symptoms (itching, ears, etc.).

As Christina mentions, Path to Pet Wellness and the supplemental guides (follow the QR code link which is at the end of the preface), will help guide you on the path (accompanied by us).
