1. Lil’Bit, 15 years old, female
2. Spayed
3. Chihuahua Pug mix
4. 14.4 pounds
5. What's their BEAM (behavior in, energy, appetite, mood) : calm, perky, no appetite, happy
6. Diet : Farmers Dog mixed with Nutro Senior Small Breed - recently transitioned from Badlands Ranch as she stopped eating it and has lost 6 pounds since her last vet appointment
7. Vaccination history / exposure to toxins, other medication : she had her Rabies vaccine administered a year ago
8. Primary problem, when it began and if there was anything else happening around that time : she started urinating in house - which she’s never done before - about 4 days ago - thought it was just an accident - but she did it again the next day , only once, and the following morning. She is also drinking lots of water. Nothing out of the norm happening at home - same routine each day.
9. Is the condition better or worse from exercise, heat, cold, time of day, certain foods, emotional upset, being touched, excitement, etc?
10. Has any diagnostic work been done? Diagnosis if available (you can attach your diagnostic tests to the post if you have them.) : the vet, Dr. Riley, ran a blood panel and a urinalysis. Waiting for hard copy of results. She said she has high calcium and found crystals in her urine. She mentioned it could be a tumor in her body or thyroid. She recommend a full calcium blood panel, X-rays and an ultrasound as well as putting her on Prednislone and stopping the Carprovet. She also said, once results come back from further blood tests - will know if tumor exists which may result in either chemo treatment or possibly surgery.
11. Current and previous treatment. : prescribed an Amoxicillin for possible UTI treatment, Carprovet and Mirtazapine for appetite stimulation.
12. Other health concerns : she is limping on her back right leg - which the doctor attributes to arthritis. She also lost her hearing this past year.
13. Tag a doctor: [@Dr. Jeff], [@Dr. Christina]

Hi Lisa!

Thanks so much for making your first post! I also appreciate your moving the post from the private conversation area to this public discussion.

I'm super sorry to read more about Lil’Bit's health challenges. Thanks so much for sharing her test results!

Aside from her hypercalcemia, her results look super good considering her big weight. loss.

stopped eating it and has lost 6 pounds since her last vet appointment

Had she been having any appetite issues before the rabies jab?

Was she overweight when she was 20+ pounds before the weight loss?

From an internal medical diagnostic point of view, it would be great to repeat her calcium and ask your vet to also run an iodized calcium.

Make sure that these tests are sent out to the lab (not run in-house) and also that she fasts 8-10 hours before the blood draw.

An out-of-the-box suggestion is to have an ACTH test performed. Atypical Addison's (which the 2-hour ACTH stimulation tests for) can present as hypercalcemia (though the calcium is typically not quite so high).

Fundamentally, the name of the form of hypercalcemia doesn't really matter. It may be associated with an anal sac adenocarcinoma, or hyperparathyroidism, or Addison's, etc.

The root cause of all these disturbances is an energetic imbalance causing secondary cellular dysfunction.

A veterinary homeopath is the best person (IMHO) to help the rest of your vet team deal with that.

From a physiological perspective, a board-certified vet internist or oncologist is best able to categorize and label the internal symptoms of hypercalcemia.

Energetically, you'll find lots of strategies in the HA! member 101 course.

And the basic model that will help you get the best of both worlds is here:

And the way we teach you to blend physiological/conventional and energetic/whole-istic medicine is described in my forthcoming book:
