Hi Everyone (@Dr. Jean Hofve, @Dr. Jeff and @Dr. Christina):

Has anyone heard of/tried hemp litters like these? https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/cranky-frank-hemp-hemp-kitty-litter-15-lb-10-l

and

We are currently using organic wheat and pine pellets, but are looking for other options. One of the members noted that gluten in wheat pellets may be of concern. The smell of pine pellets is a bit strong for us humans :p

Thanks!

I've heard of them, but have never tried them Christine.

If you try Cranky Frank's hemp litter then let me know what you find.

If might be organic but doesn’t hav US approval to call itself organic. Perhaps contact the company:

Canadian Hemp in the USA:
  • US-Canada Organic Equivalency Arrangement: The US and Canada have an agreement allowing products certified organic in either country (under the USDA organic regulations or the Canada Organic Regime) to be labeled and sold as organic in both countries, as long as the terms of the arrangement are met.
  • Import Requirements: To be labeled and sold as organic in the US, Canadian organic products, including hemp, must be certified by a Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) accredited certification body that includes a specific attestation statement on the certificate.
  • Organic Availability: While many Canadian hemp products in the USA may be grown without pesticides and herbicides, only those that meet the requirements of the equivalency arrangement and obtain USDA certification can be labeled and sold as "USDA certified organic". Some Canadian companies offer both certified organic and conventionally grown options.
