Hello everyone.
First of all, I apologize for my English... I'm French and I don't speak English fluently. I use Google Translate.
My cat Marie (11 years old - half Siamese, half European) seems to want to eat, but when I offer her pollock, chicken, or beef, she doesn't want it. It's as if it disgusts her. On the other hand, she drinks a lot of water, and water with green clay in it.
Her health history for the past year:
- 1 year ago: Marie caught the feline herpes virus - she was sick for a week.
- 6 months later: encephalitis! The entire right side of her brain was inflamed on a CT scan. She was treated with cortisone for a month, and at the same time, I'm giving her: spirulina and wild blueberries, celery juice, lysine, and carrot/apple juice. She's doing better! But I've noticed that Marie is becoming increasingly apathetic.
- Two weeks ago: She vomited daily for a week, then stopped vomiting, but refused to eat with a fever of 40. She slept all day at the bottom of the garden. Three days ago, I took her to the vet, who did a blood test. Everything came back perfect (no kidney problems...) except for the eosinophil count, which was a little elevated. The vet suspected a parasitic infection, so she gave her a dewormer. In the end, the vet rehydrated her, gave her an antibiotic to lower the fever, and dewormed her.
Back home the day before yesterday: she ate a little fish (pollock) but not much.
The next day, she didn't eat anything in the morning and licked a little egg yolk in the afternoon.
And now, I can't get her to eat. I gave her a little banana in water last night... But that's it.
I'm still giving her spirulina/wild blueberries and 500mg of lysine daily. But I don't know what else to do, and I don't want to go back to the vet who's already charged me €231... :-/
P.S.: I should point out that I don't give Marie any kibble or pâté. She only eats fish, shrimp, chicken, turkey, beef... But I never give her meaty bones due to lack of funds and because she balks at eating them, so I'm thinking maybe she's lacking calcium...
Please, can you help me? Dr. Feinman, PLEEEEAAAASE HELP ME!!!
