Thanks to Adria for pointing out this article, which discusses parts of the HA! recommendation for breathing exercises to keep us and our pets healthy.

The one big missing piece is the non-physical to physical connection. The physical act of breathing increases production of cellular energy but it also increases the unseen vitality also known as prana, chi, and the vital force:

I forgot to mention that vital capacity is the amount of air that the lungs can hold. Air and our breath is "vital" to life (and a key to vitality).
