@Dr. Christina and @Dr. Jeff and @aruna, I saw the first aid kit info from a couple of yrs ago that Aruna posted. We had a kit and gave it all away thinking it would be a long time bf we considered a new up...HA! No pun intended:) Now that we have a new puppy, we want to be sure we're not...
Meals for Cooper continues to be a strain. He's very picky. So far, he likes the most expensive meat (venision and lamb) w/o anythingelse added. Getting Fenbendazol into him for Giardia has been a struggle. We wonder if the meds or Giardia may be supressing his appetite.
Today is the last day...
Cooper isn't food-motivated making it difficult to train him. We do have smelly treats and he likes them at first, but quickly becomes uninterested. It seems that he likes the foods we we've been giving him at first, but then loses interest.
The past two meals, he will eat cooked chicken w/...
@Dr. Christina and @Dr. Jeff,
If we use this ONLY on Cooper's harness do you think it would be okay an 1 hr or so a day?
Or do you have any other suggestions?
PS- He pulls A LOT while we try to walk but only wants to run. Unfortunately, we can not run! So until we can train him to heal, we're...
@Dr. Jeff and/or @Dr. Christina,
Any suggestions on the type of fresh, raw bone we can buy that won't end up being messy on Cooper's paws and on our floors?
@Dr. Jeff you had mentioned that perhaps we did not have to treat the Giardia (if it still came back in stool as positive) after treating Coccidia with Albon for two weeks. What can we do instead? I was trying to get a sence of how much Giardia but the front desk didn't know. Should I persist?
Hello all,

Hi!
I could use suggestions on training Cooper to go potty on our deck. Currently, we take him on a walk once a day in the afternoon but it's stressful bc he pulls non-stop.
Are there training programs you'd recommend? I see so many on line.
We don't seem to have a local trainer here for...
Isn't this a long time to be treating with this antiparasitic?
Perhaps I can do something more holisitc after a week or two?
Then there's Giardia to tackle after this. The vet mentioned that we can test stools again after the Coccidia treament has been completed.
What approach would you...
Hello everyone! We got a new puppy on January 3rd. He's a Havanese/Poodle mix. He's got long red hair and is an absolute delight. He needs some training to keep him safe and us sane. I will add a photo when I can.
We got him from a shelter where he had been rescued from a breeder hoarding...
My heart sinks everytime I see an animal slipping across a floor on a show as if it's perfectly natural, normal and fun for them.
We put runners, yoga mats and cut outs where the runners didn't cover the floors so Fibi did not hurt her back or legs slipping and sliding everywhere.
Am I the...
Hi All,
I will be leaving this beautiful, supportive and amazingly informative community for a while due to Fibi's passing.
Before I leave, I'd like some clarity on how in the world these two dogs lived to the ripe ages they did?
We are accustomed to saying 17 or 18 is a ripe old age.
Thanks...
@ dr. Jeff, @ dr. Christina
We sent Fibi over the rainbow bridge Friday at 2:30pm. I wanted to keep her body cold for a couple of days but David did not. We partially buried her in a hand made box at around 4:30 pm. I am conflicted. I'm now feeling like her soul is stuck bc of some of the things...
Hi All,
Fibi's breathing is 39 breaths per minute when resting. She seems "off" today and somewhat disoriented. Also, she's not wanting to get up for her usual rounds, checking to see when there will be banana treats, or other such snacks. She also pooped in he diaper which hasn't happened. I...
Hi all,
We are running out of things to try to get our almost 16 yr old female Havanese to sleep through the night. She's approx 9 lbs.
Beam-
Obsessed with food (it's pretty much all she thinks about).
Pretty low energy except for meal and snack times.
Mood (again) is always ready to eat her...
We have noticed a reduction of incontinence since giving Fibi DHEA at 10 mg's per day. Thank you very much for this tip Dr. Jeff!
Can we go up on the dosage? If so, how much more and is it better to give two doses a day?
Thank you for any insights on this!
