Hello,
Our almost 15 y old Havanese suddenly has this spot on one eye. Do you know what this might be?
Per Dr. Judith Herman, on Monday we gave her a Rhus Tox 1x for skin eruptions all over her neck, head and chin.
Her BEAM was improving quite a bit before the skin eruptions.
Also, since we...
Thanks Dr. Christina, Yes...we do have an animal communicator. She tells us Fibi (not Fifi;) doesn't know why she's waking us so early. But she works on her every two weeks and has helped her So much with her BEAM.
Also, we've been working with Dr. Judy Herman since last yr. She said to keep...
Irith, Your suggestion just might work. First, I think we will ween her off of the midnight meal by giving her a wee bit less every night. Then we can introduce the food toy.
Does this sound like a good plan?
Much thanks!
Thank you so very much Irith and Dr. Jeff!
Yes, to the brain fog. We have noticed cognitive issues esp after a bad fall down a flight of stairs about one yr ago.
Unfortunately, the food toy wouldn't work bc she would be asking for it constantly just as she does with any other food.
The alarm...
Hello all,
This post is directed to Irith Bloom if that's still possible. What an inspiring presentation it was!
I was unable to get into the forum until now...Our almost 15 yr old female Havanese (Fibi) recently and out-of-the-blue is going through a spell of waking in the wee hours of the...
Yes to the Benadryl Dr. Jeff. I forgot to mention that we tried it for several nights. It didn't seem to phase her in the least.
It has been helpful when there's been an allergic reaction.
And great about the support group for LifeWave patches.
Thanks for all of the input Dr. Jeff, Dr. Christina and Maura.
We are waiting on a senior panel (just had one run a couple of months ago) to rule out anything new.
Our vet, while she does acupuncture, laser and some other holistic modalities, she does not really go too deep otherwise with...
This is an elaborated version of a misplaced post from last week that only was seen by Dr. Jeff and Dr. Christina. (Thank you for your responses).
Fibi is a Havanese, 9 lb, female 14 3/4 yrs young. She gets acupuncture and laser on average once a month and responds well.
She eats part venison...
Thanks for your reply!
Her Beam is-
Behavior- Obsessed w/ food/treats but not interested in playing w/ toys or us much anymore.
Energy- Energetic around snuffle tasks and food. Otherwise, she sleeps a lot. (We have not been able to walk her much due to cold weather).
Appetite- Excellent! +...
Hi Dr. Jeff,
Update- Fibi had a seizure-like episode last night where her right leg was bent up towards her face and she was convulsing. At least that's how to describe it. It was alarming and lasted for about10 seconds, more or less.
The day before, she had a chiropractor appt.
And a few days...

Thanks for all of the input Dr. Jeff! And Aruna for checking in!
David brought Fibi to the emergency hospital and though she did finally get treated, Fibi wasn't taken for over six hrs... constantly squatting and just terribly uncomfortable. Like everywhere, they are understaffed. One vet for...
Good Morning,
My 14 yr old female Havanese just began needing to urinate constantly. This just began all of a sudden this morning. Does this warrant a trip to the vet? Or, are there any suggestions that might be helpful? She's very uncomfortable and won't go on a piddle pad.
Thanks!
Sheri
Dr. Christina and Dr. Jeff, It's been going on since Fib's thyroid med was reduced a few weeks ago. (Reminder she's 14 and a 9 pd. Havanese). Though she's been lethargic since the fall down the stairs.
The Vet does do some homeopathy, but maybe not as much as some others. She was put on thyroid...
Dr. Christina and Dr. Jeff, once again, thank you for this conversation. I liked the vegan dog food ideas you suggested. I'm concerned about the yeast still. I've done some research on Glutamate and because in its essence, it appears to be in neurotransmitters and IS crucial in the functioning...
@Dr. Jeff, Our 14 yr old female Havanese (Fibi) has been on .1mg of Levothyroxine 2x/ day for several years, along with some adrenal desiccated supplement.
Her local vet ran a senior panel on her blood and reduced the levo by 50% based on a T-4 of 4.0.
Fibi has been especially lethargic and...
Thank you Dr. Jeff and Dr. Christina. After looking through the links, It's apparent that any plant-based food that is "clean" actually has yeast additives. It is my understanding that yeast or nutritional yeast products are MSG. Please correct me if I've misunderstood.
On Monday August 29th, Dr. Bob spoke about the benefits of a plant based diet for our furry friends. Some brands were listed as resources for embarking on this path. Can someone please provide some direction? We've been feeding our 14 year old Havanese a raw meat diet with lots of veggies and...
