What advice can you offer on taking our studies of homeopathy further?

I am particularly interested in courses with remote options

thanks

Hey Merryn-

You can start here but let's discuss this further after today's webinar.

I will post full course and home study curriculum in this thread.

Dr. Jeff

PS-Do you have copies of an Organon or Kent's Lectures about homeopathic "philosophy"?

Great, home study curriculum sounds great. Yes I have a 6th edition Organon, not Kent's lectures. One challenge I'm finding is that homeopathy books are often: 1) expensive 2) often not available as a kindle or other electronic version 3) expensive to ship to NZ, and can be heavy too, so even more expensive 4) not stocked by the Book Depository, which I usually use because it offers free shipping

One suggestion on homeopathic books, Merryn, is to find other like minded people in your area. You have probably searched for study groups near you. Maybe look for meet up groups, homeopathic colleges (then call to see if any of their students are in your area), holistic practitioners of any sort.

Hi again Merryn-

Regarding books, have you tried <a href="https://www.narayana-verlag.com/Homeopathy/en/c270">Narayana Verlag</a> books? They ship to Australia and NZ. Also, see specific book recomendations below and some excerpts.

Regarding a curriculum, here's the start of a professional homeopathy study course that we are contemplating for this Fall:

Module 1: Where to start in your study

A. Study of the great masters
B. Non-Hahnemannian practitioners
C. Important works in homeopathy
D. Cause of decline of homeopathy in the US
E. Homeopathy around the world
F. Community within which we live and work as homeopaths

Module 2: PHILOSOPHY OF HOMEOPATHY

In this module we will focus on definitions, and introducing concepts. Once these are well understood, we'll go on to explore the interaction among all the concepts. Eventually they are integrated into a unified whole, as the student is brought full circle back to where s/he started.

A
1. medicine: the definition of medicine, the scope of medicine
2. the physician: the definition of a physician, the mission/objective of the physician
3. vital force
4. health: the definition of health, the determinants of health
5. disease: the definition of disease, disease vs. aging, definition of acute disease, definition of chronic disease, the causa occasionalis, fixed diseases, the concept of artificial disease, progression of disease
6. causes of mistunement, obstacles to cure
7. multifactorial phenomena: endogenous causes and factors (heredity vs. acquired predispositions, the mistunement of the vital force), exogenous causes and factors, hygiene, mediate vs. immediate causes, primary vs. secondary causes, inherited diseases and purebreds
8. response of disease to treatment: preventive, supportive, suppression, curative, palliation

B
1. definition of homeopathy
2. fundamental principles of homeopathy
3. scope, limits and possibilities of homeopathy
4. place of homeopathy in medicine
5. qualities, disposition and knowledge required to practice homeopathy
6. how to study homeopathy: an overview of the important works
7. other types of medicinal practice: antipathy, allopathy, isopathy
8. differences between homeopathic practice and other types of medical practice
9. cure vs. recovery
10. role of hygiene in the practice of homeopathy
11. role of complementary care
12. miasms: concept of acute and chronic miasms, fixed miasms, limitation of the vital force, development of chronic disease, question of suppression, theory of healing with homeopathy
13. susceptibility

This should be enough for you to start your self study.

Recommended books that throughly cover these topics include:

1. Hahnemann's <a href="https://www.narayana-verlag.com/Organon-of-the-Medical-Art-Samuel-Hahnemann/b2279?alsobought=1">Organon</a> of Medicine (Wenda Brester O'Reilly or Kunzli edition). There is also a softcover version. Wenda also has created a table of <a href="https://www.narayana-verlag.com/homeopathy/pdf/Organon-of-the-Medical-Art-Samuel-Hahnemann.02279_1.pdf">contents</a> and index which is not present in other translations of this masterpiece about healing. The <strong>critical</strong> first seven <a href="https://www.narayana-verlag.com/homeopathy/pdf/Organon-of-the-Medical-Art-Samuel-Hahnemann.02279_2.pdf">aphorisms</a> and footnotes.

These will get you started.

Enjoy!

That sounds great thank you - that will give me plenty to go on with!

Yes I did come across Narayana, they seemed quite expensive from memory. But I was able to download some e-books from there.

thanks : )
