@Dr. Jeff and all,
Cooper is not peeing this morning. He pooped right away. He did zoomies like crazy, then I put the leash on to take him to his pee pad and he must have pulled in a way that made him choke for a bit. That stopped after about 15-30 seconds.
He took a few traning treats earlier as I trained him for a few minutes but he wasn't super enthusiastic.
Now he's resting on his bed while his breakfast is waiting for him.
Is there a possibility that he has a bladder issue? He's exhibiting no signs of discomfort.

@Dr. Jeff,
Seems to have resolved after we gave him a different meal.
I brought him out on the deck (it's stormy here) and he eventually peed but on the welcome mat. He's peed on the deck in inclement weather bf so not sure why today is different.
I guess we'll keep an eye on him. I get concerned when he doesn't urinate after 12 hrs.

Sheri,
Always put yourself in his paws. Some days you pee more than others. When you notice yourself concerned, do just what you did to look overall - he is showing no other symptoms; he did zoomies; he ate, etc. then relax. No need to worry or hyper focus on how often he pees. do record you concern in his journal, then just have lots of fun and not worry. I suspect it was the wet deck.

@Dr. Christina, Thank you for this. I guess I thought he always pees first thing in the morning...
Why is the wetness such a deterrent (seems for small dogs esp)?
Do you have any suggestions on training on a piddle pad? We have him starting on the pad outside. Sometimes he goes on it, but it's random.

Great question! This is an individual trait which is also a clue to his "constitution". It may be that he's sensitive to the wet grass, or water falling from the sky, or...

From what I've observed, both small and big dogs in full energetic balance may not want water drops hitting them, but they shake it off and move on...

Try putting the pads where he is already peeing. Give him a treat and tell him he's a good boy if he sniffs at or walks on the pads.

Throw him a treat party if you witness him using a pad!🫗
