Hi there-

My one year Australian shepherd contracted Lyme and anaplasmosis back in October at the tender age of 9 months. He was not acting quite like himself, limping on the back left leg and warm to touch, he also had me up three nights in a row with diarrhea. I took him to his vet and found he was positive for both Lyme and anaplasmosis. His Lyme level was only 41, but he was started on the 28 days of doxy which made him hate eating and took us months to get his appetite back. He also acted very lethargic on the medication, not interested in playing and his usual antic (although maybe this was the tick diseases?). Finally after about 5 days he started to perk up and play. He finished the 28 days.

Flash forward to the end of January, he had another bout of diarrhea from nowhere and started holding up the back left leg. I thought maybe a flare-up and treated him with the ledum protocol and he was back to normal a few days later. This time is energy and appetite were fine. Now 2 weeks ago, he stared having mucousy, runny poops again for about a week and was lame on his front leg. Although he did get his paw stuck in a chair so I'm not sure if this was coincidence or what. I did do the ledum again as it is crazy tick season up here in New England. His diarrhea cleared up and his leg got better after several days. However, yesterday was his yearly check-up and when I brought all this up the vet suggested they run another C6 and his level jumped from 41 in October to 169 . He currently has no symptoms but they are still wanting to treat with the doxy again which I really don't want to put him through again. I coincidentally just ordered the Bor-L-Immune yesterday to have on hand. I don't know what to do, do I hold off on the doxy and try the Bor-L-Immune? I know we are told to not treat asymptomatic Lyme. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!
