Hello -

I was wondering if anyone on here knows if ION* Gut Support For Pets may be mixed in dog's food instead of the way it is described on their website (given using a syringe or in the water). Maybe you had experience with this product or you got feedback from the manufacturer. I went in the question to their customer service line and their answer did not address my specific question.

PS - I wonder if this product was actually discussed in one our classes? if yes, and you remember which one, please let me know and I will re-watch that episode.

Thanks in advance.

Great question Ive!

We would love to have the developer of ION gut support (Zach Bush, MD) on a webinar in 2026!

Dr. Bush is super like-minded:

I don't know your answer for sure, but I imagine that it can be mixed but may then be slightly less effective.

Hi @Dr. Jeff -

I received the answer from their customer support and they said:
Pet Support can be mixed in food. We would suggest the food is eaten in a short period of time and not let to sit all day.
It will be great to hear from Dr. Bush.

Thanks for the info Ive!

Yes, it would be nice if we could connect with Dr. Bush.

Christine - do you routinely add any other digestive supplements such as probiotics or digestive enzymes in addition to ION to the food?
Hi Ive,

Yes! I give raw goat's milk in every meal and alternatively give Visbiome (just a sprinkle) and Gussy's Gut fermented products...I also have on hand fermented products from Green Juju...I don't give all in every meal, I rotate them...it also depends on her stool. For loose stools, I also rub Happy Tummy, a flower essence by Jackson's Galaxy :)

We put ION Gut in our lab's drinking water. Great way to give it.

That is great, I also give raw goat milk and kefir, as well as fermented foods (thought I don't buy any pet formulas, I just share the sauerkraut that I eat). I will look into getting Happy Tummy to have on hand.

Thanks for your feedback, Peter. I am hesitant to give it in water because my pup will never drink the entire bowl so I don't know how much she will get from one day to another.

Ours doesn't either. We just leave the water out and throughout the day he gets what he needs. Each time we refill the water bowl, we add a bit more. Seems to work very well for us.
