Hello @Dr. Jeff and @Dr. Christina
Noose, 10 yr female Russian Blue cat, weighs 5.3kg, gentle happy cat by nature
Spayed at 2 months, vaccinated for first 2 years.
Fed raw minced chicken breast mixed with Feline Instincts My Natural Cat premix, freeze-dried turkey and rabbit as treats.
She has had idiopathic cystitis since she was a kitten. At 2 years she had a reaction to Nobivac 1-HCP where her back leg went temporarily lame. She has not been injected since. She remained on vet recommended urinary care dry food until the age of 7 when she was hospitalised with pancreatitis/triaditis. Once she was out of crisis, we decided against biopsies, steroids and prescription diets and worked with an animal naturopath to support her body. We feed her only raw minced chicken breast mixed with Feline Instincts My Natural Cat premix, freeze-dried turkey and rabbit as treats. She is very sensitive to food, vomiting easily however adding digestive enzymes to every meal has reduced this.
She has responded well to the naturopathic approach however she still cycled through periods of vomiting, inappropriate urinating and vocalising. Her appetite also cycles through periods where her interest in food ebbs and flows. She bites her back legs, sometimes pulling out fur and has had runny eyes, both for the past many months. She can get startled with noises.
After her latest bout of cystitis a few weeks ago, she was very vocal with some urination frequency and lots of urinating outside her box. Her naturopathic meds and suggestions did not help. Out of desperation to help her with her discomfort, we gave her Pentosan, Prazosin and Metacam which helped, once stopped her symptoms returned and we put her on CBD oil, Cystease and San Ren Tang by Kan Essentials. She appears to be doing well on all of this.
Our latest issue is she hurt her front leg jumping off the counter. The vet said she had slight swelling by her ankle which he thought could be arthritic and that the pain was an elbow soft tissue injury, no x-rays were taken. He prescribed Petcam which I don’t want to give to her. It's over a week later and she is still limping badly, it improves slightly and then she hurts it again. Her limping is worse when she starts walking from rest. She happily kneads with her leg, there appears no discomfort when she moves or lies on it, the issue is walking on it.
Her appetite is slightly less than normal and her disposition is mostly unchanged and happy although occasionally subdued. I was giving her arnica, ruta and cbd oil with limited effectiveness. I’ve also been giving her rescue remedy, Magenta Self Healer flower essences and she has regular energy healing sessions.
Can you please advise on what I can give her for immediate pain relief and to restore balance in her body.
I have ordered the Assisi Loop however I live outside of the US so this is not an immediate solution because of the delivery time.
Thank you so much
