Air quality and walking our pets

Wondering if those of us experiencing poor air quality due to the fires in Canada (many prayers to all affected, including the animals) should refrain from walking our furry friends. I have kept Cooper in for two days now.

Great question, SheriS.
I would agree to minimize out side time.
Be creative with mind games, teaching tricks, etc, for inside enrichment.
Even, as Dr. Lauri McCauley showed me, teaching mobility tricks inside. Her dog can dance on hind legs (big dog, too - 50# ish).
This would be a great time to evaluate diet, add variety, maybe add some general health boosting supplements like mushrooms, algae, etc.
Maybe an indoor play group.
Invite a dog friend over.
Convert a room into an activity room.

Timely question Sheri!

I was just in a meeting with vet homeopaths, including someone in Toronto, where we discussed this exact question.

Not surprisingly the answer came down to the lower susceptibility of four-legged animals. Compared to two-legged animals.

The conclusion, the potential toxicity of the air is much more likely to affect us.

For example, yesterday Maya was at play group (outside with other dogs) while. I stayed inside.

For you, perhaps limit walks and play with Cooper inside today. Air quality is still unhealthy today, but the rain predicted for this weekend should help improve it for next week.
