    Feeding bones daily?

@Dr. Jeff, @Dr. Christina, @Dr. Jean Hofve, Is it safe to give my one yr old puppy a beef bone every day as described below? I typically give it to him after he has finished a meal for teeth cleaning, enjoyment and nutrition. I make sure to scrape most of the marrow off, as it is otherwise...

@Dr. Jeff @Dr. Christina @Dr. Jean Hofve What type of exercise do you do for puppies (and with Maya)? We've been training Cooper to potty on a pad on the deck first thing. Then we walk him for exercise and training later in the day. Sometimes we take him on the grass/moss for 10 minutes in the...

Lentils and peas in dogs diet?

@Dr. Christina @Dr. Jean Hofve @Dr. Jeff, Our vet informed us that there could be danger in feeding Cooper any peas or lentils. She said there was a dog or dogs that had terrible reactions and we should not take our chances. Is this an overreaction perhaps?

Puppy not urinating this morning or eating

@Dr. Jeff and all, Cooper is not peeing this morning. He pooped right away. He did zoomies like crazy, then I put the leash on to take him to his pee pad and he must have pulled in a way that made him choke for a bit. That stopped after about 15-30 seconds. He took a few traning treats earlier...

    Grooming trauma

Hi all, Any thoughts on the inpact of grooming on dogs? It seems quite stressful to Cooper even though it appears the groomer is compassionate. We don't get to see everything they do to Cooper. What can be done to help them get through it? @Dr. Jeff gave us a remidy for Cooper recently, and he...

Hi @Dr. Jeff, @Dr. Christina @Dr. Jean Hofve, I know there's a lyme disease course but I can not read too much these days... I'm still not clear on tick (flea) prevention. We've used Tick Hex by Peter Dobias for years. The bottle says 'weekly." We used it almost daily. Is that too much? I...

Hello, @Dr. Jeff and @Dr. Christina and @Dr. Jean Hofve, We'd love to keep Cooper's teeth/gums as healthy and white as possible. He chews rawehide, 20 min., twice a day. Any thoughts on this for when he is not chewing rawhide? We haven't been sucessful (yet) at a real bone bc of the mess...

    Puppy makes moaning noises

@Dr. Jeff and @Dr. Christina, Cooper moans multiple times per day. Sometimes it's as he's just completed lying down and other times, while he's already lying down. He can either be sleeping or not. We wonder if there may be some stomach/digestive thing (blockage?) or maybe there's pain...

Meals for our puppy continues to be a chalenge...

Meals for Cooper continues to be a strain. He's very picky. So far, he likes the most expensive meat (venision and lamb) w/o anythingelse added. Getting Fenbendazol into him for Giardia has been a struggle. We wonder if the meds or Giardia may be supressing his appetite. Today is the last day...

    Meals, training and Giardia

Cooper isn't food-motivated making it difficult to train him. We do have smelly treats and he likes them at first, but quickly becomes uninterested. It seems that he likes the foods we we've been giving him at first, but then loses interest. The past two meals, he will eat cooked chicken w/...

    Giardia after treatment of Coccidia

@Dr. Jeff you had mentioned that perhaps we did not have to treat the Giardia (if it still came back in stool as positive) after treating Coccidia with Albon for two weeks. What can we do instead? I was trying to get a sence of how much Giardia but the front desk didn't know. Should I persist?
