Premix for raw food for cats

It depends on how many days’ worth of food you are making at once… I generally recommend 1/2 to 1 capsule per cat per day. It’s much more bioavailabie than other Omega 3 oils so it doesn’t take much.

Premix for raw food for cats

This is a good supplement and will work. Not crazy about some of the inaccurate claims they make on their website but the product is fine and one of the ONLY truly complete supplements for meat. BalanceIt is also good. Haven't found anything else I really trust.

    Stubborn painful UTI Canine

With regard to a commercial balanced diet, you can supplement with other foods up to 10-15% of the diet without skewing the balance. If that's how much of the fruit/veggies you were giving, just substitute meat for some/most/all of it. Herbivores eating only plants have a urine pH of about 8...

Cat’s eye looks off - glassy

The third eyelid also protrudes when the eye itself is in pain and withdraws, making it seem like the third eyelid is up. They can actually pull the eyeball backward into the socket to protect it if it's sore.Maybe some mild saline wash would be appropriate to encourage it!

    Stubborn painful UTI Canine

Hello, thanks for your post! I would start first of all with her diet. Honest Kitchen is fairly high in carbs, and you are adding a lot more carbs with the fresh foods. Fruits and vegetables raise urine pH, which creates the conditions for struvite to form. Can you cut back on those and add...

Supplements or foods that increase and decrease bile production

Fish oil will increase bile secretion because fat is what triggers it -- bile is used for fat digestion. Morning bile vomiting can sometimes be helped by feeding a small snack right at bedtime. For some reason some dogs' tummies like to have something to work on overnight. This may not be...

    Supplementing commercial raw diet?

A balanced commercial diet is just that, balanced, and doesn’t need supplemental vitamins or minerals. Adding single minerals in particular can be harmful, since many are toxic in excess, including manganese.

Kitten not eating, what to do?

Yes to discontinuing the tuna water. Mercury is not the only concern with tuna, the histamines and other compounds could be an issue. See Why Fish is Dangerous for Cats | Little Big Cat - Dr. Jean Hofve

    Impact induced seizures? NW CT

Head trauma is a very common cause of seizures! You could try Traumeel or homeopathic Arnica to resolve the original issue (at least keep on hand in case of any future head-banging incidents!). Although constitutional homeopathy is always best for this sort of thing....

Salt Water and Trigger for Seizures

Never heard of that, although if they swallowed too much of the salt water to cause excess blood sodium (hypernatremia) that can cause seizures.

Requesting guidance to ensure balanced diet and regularity with appropriate supplementation

A balanced commercial raw food will be sufficient, including taurine, calcium, vitamins and other minerals, and taurine, without any supplementation No need to add water to a complete diet--you're trying to prevent something that isn't happening and probably won't. Extra water will dilute...

How long before constipation for my cat is a serious concern/i am out of town until Friday night (10th)

Baby food is almost pure protein and fat... it is nearly all digested and absorbed, so there won't be much poop created from it. It's unlikely he's actually constipated, more that he's just mostly empty. Unless the sitter sees him straining in the box, I don't think there's a problem.

Kitty tested positive for Giardia/im going out of town Monday

No need for medication without active infection, though I would still use the enzyme protocol just to clear any "leftovers" out. It takes some effort but it will help support her overall bowel health and avoid potential recurrence.

Kitty tested positive for Giardia/im going out of town Monday

Panacur is generally pretty safe, but it is not all that effective against giardia. It will usually reduce the diarrhea, but it doesn't kill the parasites and they can make a comeback.

Kitty tested positive for Giardia/im going out of town Monday

Yes, it's fine to hold off on the meds. If you want to try an alternative protocol after you get back, here's mine: Giardia Natural Treatment Protocol | Little Big Cat - Dr. Jean Hofve Funny but I just got an email this morning about how 10 years ago this protocol cleared giardia in a mama cat...

    Spaying 13 weeks kitten

Shelters have been spaying and neutering at 8 weeks for decades. They do it because too many people are too irresponsible to trust to have it done later. I'm not a fan of it (particular in male kitties), and if you can wait until 12-16 weeks that's much better. However, cats will come into heat...
