Urgent diarrhea during the night

Frisco is a 17 month male Bernese Mountain Dog and is fed a raw diet. The last 2 nights he has had urgent diarrhea 1:00-2:00am. The first time he woke me up after and wanted to go outside to do more. Last night he didn't wake me up and it appeared it started while he was walking to get to the carpet. Notes:
- each night there was 1 small formed poop and lots of liquid and pudding, very smelly, no blood, dark brown
- I gave him a few doses of arsenicum album yesterday and initially I thought it may have helped but then he had the diarrhea again last night.
- His BEAM was very low yesterday morning but improved some, but not normal, throughout the day.
- I fasted him for 12 hours and only gave him bone broth
- he had a small, normal poop late yesterday afternoon
- last night I gave him 2/3 of his regular meal
- this morning his BEAM is low again, though he seems hungry
- I made oatmeal with bone broth but he didn't eat it until I added a little tripe
- we have done short sniff walks which but he isn't as excited about them as usual
- because he is hungry I boiled some ground beef and mixed it with some oatmeal and he ate that for lunch
- I have withheld his supplements
Questions:
- are several small meals a good idea?
- what foods are good and what should I avoid?
- next steps?

Thank you!
Debbie

are several small meals a good idea?
Yes. And fasting is even more effective!

what foods are good and what should I avoid?
Fasting avoids all foods. Then you can start him back on a baby food meat diet. Gradually getting him back to his regular diet based on his response.
- next steps?

How did you dose Ars?

Extra outdoor and play time, and doubling the # of snuffle mat sessions that he gets.

How did you dose Ars?
pellets in water then I had to crumble a bit of treat so he would drink it
doubling the # of snuffle mat sessions that he gets.
that would be giving him more treats
Extra outdoor and play time
he did want to lay in the grass outside but not interested in playing

He asked to go out and was restlessly looking for a place to poop and then strained and had a soft formed small poop with pudding too, color changed to orange/yellow (had been dark brown)

Thank you!
Debbie
