Treating Coccidia with Albon for three wks. Then Giardia treatment?

Isn't this a long time to be treating with this antiparasitic?
Perhaps I can do something more holisitc after a week or two?
Then there's Giardia to tackle after this. The vet mentioned that we can test stools again after the Coccidia treament has been completed.

HA! You probably don't really want to ask me that!!

My answer depends on the context of the clinical situation. For example is your pup having diarrhea, blood, flatulence how many eggs were found,, etc.

The good news is that puppy dewormng meds are super safe and benign.

However, in my experience they may not even be needed when the focus is on balance of the microbiome.

With great probiotics (The Wolf, Fido's Flora, etc.) fermented foods, raw diet, happiness (e.g promote puppy exuberance) inner "terrain" and balance will make the environment inhospitable.

Optimizing inner terrain and 1-2 weeks of meds (if any) should be all you need (you can recheck stool in 2 weeks).

Simply put, developing health will eclipse the symptoms for which the meds were prescribed. Health always wins, and other "this-for-that " treatments cause more issues than they solve - which is not many anyway. Giardia, etc, is self-limiting in the face of a healthy inner terrain. So optimize diet, habits, exercise - and if you can, work with a vet homeopath to help build a strong foundation for life. This should go a long ways towards resolving and building health to meet every challenge.

First, I would not be treating Giardia or coccidia in my dog or cat. I would use conventional (and very safe) drugs for roundworms, hooks and whips along with building vitality and resistance. Because you did not say, I am assuming this is a young puppy? Great suggestions by Jeff and Ginny.

So glad you are seeking holistic over drugs, especially to give your pup a great start. Now think total rebalance of the energy field over even "holistic treatment FOR any specific problem".

This is a major shift in thinking that may take years to fully absorb and integrate. The more you study our wealth of materials here at the HA academy, the more you will approach any symptom or "condition" by looking at the whole.

First step is to carefully study the 101 health course and begin to build health so the body will naturally remove any excessive giardia and coccidia. Feeding a fresh food diet, minimizing toxins like vaccines, not using chemical flea/tick treatments or household and yard chemicals.

Second is building your holistic health care team, which may take some time and will repay you for all the years to come. to find vets (homeopathic ones do work virtually) read the entire article.

Listening to the many talks on puppy training, listening to your pup to determine what is needed, giving choice for many things (where and when to feed, which direction to walk, play or not, etc) so that the physical and mental exercise is individualized.
