Best diet for cat with kidney issues

Great points from Drs Jeff and Christina. BTW the article I posted is old, there’s more research and I will update as soon as I.am recovered! So, several grains of salt will apply! 🙄

Best diet for cat with kidney issues

IMO there is no justification for using a kidney diet for early stages, and only rarely (as symptom control) in later stages. I just left the hospital a few minutes ago after knee replacement surgery, and my brain is pretty fogged up but here is my take on this condition. Kidney Disease in Cats...

    Hemp Litter

Interesting that they pellet it. A lot of cats don't like the feeling of those hard edges on their paws. But at least it's actually organic!

    Hemp Litter

Canada unfortunately uses a ton of GMO, so I wouldn't chance it unless they can tell you it isn't. Cats will consume quite a bit of it when they clean their paws.

Momma cat is giving birth right now. Any homeopathic remedy to support her post birth?

Just good food and lots of it! A normal natural birth doesn't need treatment.

    Hemp Litter

Don't know much about it, but good that it's organic, since a lot of hemp is GMO.

    Fibi's passing

I think you might enjoy Suzanne Giesemann, she's a medium; people-oriented, but the same applies to animals. Very interesting person, she was previously a high-ranking naval officer. She has many videos on YouTube. Suzanne Giesemann - Messages of Hope

Garlic, Onions and Susceptibility to Toxicity for Dogs and Cats

Well, that's why powdered is so much more damaging. There isn't that much "badness" in those bits from whole onion to worry about. IMHO of course!

    Fibi's passing

Oh Sheri, Fibi is totally free! There is nothing on earth that can "hold" a soul. She is so much bigger and brighter than that. There are a lot of opinions out there about this, but the ones based in any kind of fear are just wrong. She is fine, she is free, she is gloriously happy. It is SO...

Garlic, Onions and Susceptibility to Toxicity for Dogs and Cats

Onions are much more toxic than garlic, but fresh or cooked from fresh are less harmful in small amounts. Dried or powdered forms are much worse because they're highly concentrated. Here's my lesson learned: A kitty comes in on a Monday for bloodwork. She had been fed one meal of Gerber's...

    Olive leaf

Right... not toxic, but very aversive. Olive leaf is an antibiotic, and therefore suppressive. It wouldn't be appropriate unless you are trying to treat some type of infection. It tastes pretty nasty on its own--I'm not sure lemon would improve the flavor!!

    Mushrooms for cats

Absolutely! Mushrooms are awesome, they provide so many benefits to the immune system and much more! Adored Beast has several mushroom products.

After 2 month of non bacterial UTI treatment high specific gravity and struvites formation are not resolved.

Plants absolutely raise urine pH. A cow's urine is pH 8, a cat pH 5. More meat and less veggies in the diet will lower pH and increase thirst because of its mild diuretic effect. I agree that 2 chicken necks is a lot for a small dog. Meat without the bone may work better to help regain balance...

Avoiding the RAbies Vaccine for my indoor Cat

You could try calling Merial to find a local vet who uses Purevax; I have done so but not in many years. Otherwise you'd just have to call around. Any feline-only vet should have it. All other rabies vaccines are killed, as are FeLV vaccines except Purevax. Most other vaccines are modified...

Best cut of raw meats for allergic Frenchton

Agree that raw proteins are far less likely to trigger allergies. It's the denaturing (distortion) of proteins due to heat processing that can underlie many allergies. I personally don't recommend raw fish, though, since all kinds of fish and seafood can carry an array of parasites. I quit...

Avoiding the RAbies Vaccine for my indoor Cat

I have seen three indoor cats exposed to potentially rabid bats--all happened during the day, and hence the bats were likely to be sick. One came down a chimney, one got into the attic, and one was caught on a 14th floor balcony downtown. The Purevax rabies vaccine contains no adjuvants and is...

    Bird flu?

This article is based on a recent "study" looking at 20 years of avian flu infections in cats. Not only the one that's infecting them now. It's not a very good paper and in fact I am fairly annoyed about it! The 90% is a gross exaggeration. Surveillance suggests that most infections are...

    Hard stools

This looks fine. It recommends 1/4 rounded tsp but if you're feeding in meals just split that between them, you can mix into the food. Then you wait... see how they do, what the response is. If it keeps working, keep giving it!
