Here are a few suggestions that may help.
1. Are you feeding enough fat?
2. They may need less calcium source so you could add more meat to fix this.
3. Try a different brand base mix, or try the Alnutrin which has egg shells instead of calcium carbonate. Although egg shells lack minerals too...
This is probably a very dumb question but isn't magnesium necessary to metabolize calcium? Doesn’t magnesium deficiency cause constipation? It looks like the Alnutrin has either calcium carbonate or eggshell powder as a calcium source. I believe eggshell powder at least has small amounts of...
Dr. Jean Hofve had a great suggestion in her post above of simply adding more meat. Please look at her post. The main thing is the ratio of meat to the calcium. I assume this could be accomplished by adding more meat or using less mix.

One thing I have learned in over 15 years of homemade feeding two dogs is to feed the dog in front of me. Not all dogs are the same. Their requirements are similar but some may need slightly less or more of certain ingredients. The same applies to cats. Although the mix is great for the majority...
I would try increasing the meat in the diet and reducing the calcium. Too much calcium is going to clog them up and no supplement is going to fix that.

Whenever my dogs are "off" I go back to basics. First of all, I stop all supplements. I also eliminate all "extras" like veggies and fruits. For treats, I only feed single ingredient meat treats. For diet, I feed bone, meat and organs and go light on the organs and fat if there is a digestive...
I love this post. I couldn't agree more, however I was also thinking that it would be critical to include a good source of calcium and other minerals, especially since she is pregnant. Ideally this would come from raw meaty bones, however, many feeders of homemade tend to leave out the calcium...
Isn't celery juice high in oxalates which prevent absorption of vitamins and minerals, especially calcium, and can lead to stone formation in some individuals? I would think drinking juice in a concentrated form is different than eating a it of celery in its natural state. Perhaps certain...
I was wondering if giving some digestive enzymes might be helpful? My one dog is approaching 17 and her stools were becoming inconsistent, sometimes too loose and other times too hard. I read where older dogs sometimes do not produce enough enzymes. I started her on the following product to help...
If this dog is only 3 years old and has been vaccinated previously for distemper, I wonder if it is possible that this dog is a non responder to the distemper vaccine, particularly since the result is negative vs low. In this case, another vaccine may not work anyway. I have read that a dog can...
I rarely clean my dogs' ears but occasionally I do warm coconut oil to a liquid state and then use a cotton ball to wipe the inside of the ears with it. However, I have never put anything down into the ear canal.

Hi rebleekah,
The diet sounds good. Sardines are a good source of calcium. I wonder if the poached salmon contains bones? That would be another source. I am afraid I am not knowledgeable about calcium supplements as far as how much to give. I wonder if bone meal would be a better option. Bone...
I am sorry your dog is having these issues. I am not an expert on urinary issues, however i wonder if it would help to avoid oxalates. Some vegetables are extremely high in oxalates like spinach. Oxalates can contribute to stone formation. I personally believe that fruits and vegetables should...
I would recommend checking the actual rabies vaccine laws in your area if you are concerned about legality. States are all different. Sometimes the laws are at the county and local level. In my current county there are no rabies laws unless overridden by local municipalities. A friend of mine in...
I definitely understand your concerns about copper toxicity as well as IVDD.
My dog had a supposed IVDD episode at age 7 that was cured by strict crate rest and steroids. I am not a fan of steroids but in this case they were needed. She is now 16.5 and has never had another disc episode. She...
I wonder if Bradley is a little less tolerant of fat these days. Reducing the fat content could help. Or else you could consider adding some pancreas if you can get it. If not, you could try freeze dried pancreas. Another option is digestive enzymes.
