Looking for a good local puppy trainer?

Thank you for the suggestions Dr. Christina. I think the best solution is a trainer as he is still so young and we can hopefully correct his behavior before he becomes a full adult. I've gotten a couple of trainer suggestions so I will let everyone know how that goes. Betty

Looking for a good local puppy trainer?

Thanks for the suggestion and I will definitely reach out to her. Louis is such a great guy, but just needs some tweaking at this precious age. Since you have shih tzu's you know how they all have their own unique quirks. :)

Looking for a good local puppy trainer?

Hello everyone, Just wondering if anyone can recommend a local dog trainer that they like. I am in Norwalk. 6 1/2 month old shih tzu puppy is having issues since 3-4 weeks ago with barking at everything and reactivity to other dogs. He wants to go up to other dogs, says hello and then starts...

Cat not feeling well, hiding in out of way places.

Frankie is doing much better. He was alert most of yesterday, was asking for food and hung out with us all day. He came in our bed at 6 am this morning and was purring up a storm. So far okay today too. :)

Cat not feeling well, hiding in out of way places.

Thank you for the suggestion Dr. Jean. I will see how things go with the arsenicum dose I gave to Frankie overnight, but will keep Aconitum in my arsenal if needed. Betty

Cat not feeling well, hiding in out of way places.

Hi Dr. Jeff, I had originally dosed him with pulsatilla, when he first started exhibiting his symptoms, with no real change. Since then I gave him a dose of Arnica four days later when it looked like he was sore from running down the stairs. His body was moving better after this, but then he...

Cat not feeling well, hiding in out of way places.

New update on Frankie. He has soft stools/diarrhea the last two days. He came downstairs with ease yesterday and he seemed almost back to himself, but his energy is not there. He stayed upstairs all day today, and didn't come down for his mid day snack. We carried him down for dinner which he...

Cat not feeling well, hiding in out of way places.

Thanks for your thoughts Dr. Sara, Frankie is doing better everyday. I dosed him with arnica 30c 10/1 swab yesterday. He actually came downstairs on his own after that to eat and hang out a bit more and today he is acting almost back to normal and moving with greater ease. Frankie has a great...

Cat not feeling well, hiding in out of way places.

Thank you Dr. Christina, I did use the rescue remedy, but was only able to use a spray form when this first happened. Frankie is actually starting to come around which is a good sign. He meowed this morning to announce he was awake and that we should be too. He came downstairs on his own to eat...

Cat not feeling well, hiding in out of way places.

Frankie is an 8 year old Maine Coon cat. Sweet disposition with very gentle ways. He ran down the stairs after our puppy chased him a few days ago and hasn't been the same since. He is hiding behind the bed and out of way places. He usually will hang nearby when we are home, but he has been...

Shih Tzu - new puppy - how to pick out a calm personality and crate train a puppy

His poops are formed and normal most of the time. He still has soft bms occasionally. I am adding new foods slowly, but so far okay. He is such a joy and enjoys his outings. He is still skittish around other people. He doesn't mind sniffing their hand, but he does not want them to pet him. We...

Shih Tzu - new puppy - how to pick out a calm personality and crate train a puppy

An update from Louis land :) He is doing well and weighs about 7.5 pounds at this point. He is calm, happy, though very attached to me as his person. We are taking him out to socialize on a regular basis so he becomes accustom to the real world. He loves his nighttime crate and goes right to...

Shih Tzu - new puppy - how to pick out a calm personality and crate train a puppy

Thank you Dr. Jeff. His crate is right next to me at night and I did use the "comfort hand" the first night. Luckily last night was great. He went in his crate and slept all night long. Hopefully this will continue. We are also working on potty training and learning to walk on a leash. So much...

Shih Tzu - new puppy - how to pick out a calm personality and crate train a puppy

So Louie has arrived to our home. He was of course out of sorts being away from his family. The first night in the crate was tough. I didn't sleep, cause I was concerned about my new boy. He cried of course on and off all night. Hoping for a better night tonight. Any suggestions for bedtime...

Shih Tzu - new puppy - how to pick out a calm personality and crate train a puppy

I totally agree with you about the energy that connects us to our pups! I just picked out my new boy who should arrive at my home in early June. I'm so excited to meet him :). I see you have a couple of shih tzu's too. They are totally edible and can't wait to share my life with one very soon.
