Hi.
How often should I dose Lycopodium 30C for chronic liver issues?

Thanks

Great question, Edwin.

While some people prescribe specific homeopathically prepared substances for specific conditions and problems, the power to heal with homeopathy is tailored to each individual.

The first prescription medicine in a chronic illness like liver disease is carefully selected by evaluating every symptom, past and current (totality of symptoms), then using many books to narrow down from 7,000 medicines to the single one most likely to help this cat at this time. Was that how lycopodium was selected?

Then, still thinking of each individual, we make decisions on "posology" - what potency (you chose 30c), what frequency to give, what method of administration. There is a great empower hour discussion on this and you can also do the entire weekend homeopathy course (there were two of them) - go to Non member login - Holistic Actions! and scroll down to see them.

Potency and frequency are based on my factors including age, amount of pathology (how sick she is), sensitivity, certainty of a good match.

I would suggest, if your cat is very ill, that you consult with a veterinary homeopath. If not too ill, you could discuss this on your 15 minute monthly call.

If you think the 30c Lycopodium is perfect, then I would give one dose and wait a week. Re-evaluate every current symptom and see if there are new ones or ones from the past. Most importantly, what is the BEAM?

Then you would decide if it was time to repeat the dose or wait longer for the vital force to complete reacting curatively to the first dose.

Also important are supplements, sniffing, mental and physical exercise, and especially for liver problems, avoid any toxins and feed a fresh food diet.

What she said, Edwin. Homeopaths spend whole lifetimes learning when to use each remedy - and even then, every dose of every remedy is carefully re-evaluated. While remedies may have certain "track records" of affinities for certain conditions, every remedy is chosen for its suitability, not to a condition, but to the overall - total - presentation of the individual - not just the apparent symptom. Then, as Dr. Christina said, there is a whole science of figuring out how much, how strong, and how often - and when to repeat or back off on dosing. Since all of this depends on the response of the individual, there is no way to generalize about these. This is why we turn to those inspired experts who have made homeopathy a life's study. And their expertise is invaluable, to every case. This is not to discourage you from studying, which can only help. But it is meant to teach that a case treated with "this for that" may be less than successful.
