Dear Friends,
I'm writing about our 11 year old female dog, who recently had a leg removed which was broken from an osteosarcoma tumor. She had her first dose of chemotherapy (doxorubicin) on Friday. She's done fairly well over the weekend until this morning when she vomited and then had red blood in her stool. We visited the vet this afternoon and they recommended we give her Flagyl for her inflamed large intestine. Seven day course. Her blood work shows that her RBC and WBC counts are good. Is there an alternative to Flagyl for her inflamed intestine? Thank you folks.
Much appreciated.

Update. Hintza slept well through the night. Before bed, we gave her nux vomica and phosphorus. We also gave her slippery elm herb capsules. And she ate some cooked chicken and rice with bone broth. And some Answers Raw Fermented Goats milk. This morning, she's had another dose of nux vomica and phosphorus. She's resting near her Ion box. And, alternately going into the kitchen, interested in the chicken cooking smells coming forth therefrom. BEAM is hard to deduce. She is her sweet self, smiling when we pet her. Barking at the work person at the door. But her energy is lower than usual and appetite iffy.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you folks.

I'm so glad that Hintza's blood counts were good. There's definitely other ways to soothe inflamed intestines.

Liquid aloe vera, slippery elm, Vitalize Alimend, and many other methods work well.

You might also want to support her with small amounts of an added fiber supplement that can help her detox.

Here's the fiber+ detox product that I use:

Thank you for this help. We can get aloe immediately in town and will order the Vitalize Alimend and look into the fiber. Many of the ingredients of the fiber powder she gets fresh from our daily juicing so we might stick with that since she will eat it. Thanks so much, Dr. Jeff.
