Hello.

My cat chases wasps every time she gets outside (everyday). In the event of a sting, what is it that we do?
Thanks!
Christie

Hey Christie. The homeopathic medicine that deals with symptoms after a wasp sting like pain, swelling, sensitivity, vomiting, etc. is Apis.

If your kitty is having trouble breathing, please dose the Apis on the way to the vet ER.

BTW-Apis is one of the 4 Awe-some As which are worth learning because they can help you deal with many acute situations:4 As for emergencies image.jpg

This is fascinating and should be in everyone’s emergency kit! I’ve been wondering about getting an emergency kit too

Here it says in dosing, to give a qtip to the gums from the one pelllet in the cup. But how often vs the few pellets crushed directly into the mouth? I realized I only gave my cat the one qtip thinking it was one dose.

The frequency with homeopathic medicines, Christie, depends on how the animal is responding. If you see definite improvement in a mild condition, then slight worsening but no new symptoms, repeat the dose. If you are not sure, repeat. Often with acute problems, we start with giving a dose of the 30c every 15 minutes for 3 doses.

If no improvement, then you look for a different remedy or treatment. If the condition is more serious, you can give every 5 minutes. If there are new symptoms that are covered by the remedy, and if your pet is feeling better overall (BEAM improvement), repeat. If the BEAM is worse, or the new symptoms do not fit the remedy, then it is time for a different remedy.

Thank you! And to clarify for myself, a dose” would be the qtip to the gums, right?

A dose could be the qtip to the gums. It could be a crushed pellet. It could be few drops from a diluted and shaken mixture.

I was stung by a bee last summer, it got caught between my sandal and my toe. I took Apis right away... but it didn't help. In hindsight, I should have also tried Ledum (puncture wounds) or Lachesis (snake bites). As it was, after a week of misery trying to tend it myself, I ended up in the ER, and being sent home on crutches and antibiotics. Not a fun experience! Wasp stings are way worse (been there, done that too!) so I'd definitely recommend keeping all those remedies on hand.
